Do You Wear Hats?

Lucy does!

I wear them in winter and to the beach, and on the golf course, so fairly often ๐Ÿค” Some people seem to just wear them on vacation. How about you? ๐ŸŽฉ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿช–โ›‘๏ธ๐Ÿงข๐Ÿ‘’

What an adorable little sweetie! I almost never wear hats, only on a very cold day.

What a cutie! I do if I will be out in the sun for a prolonged time.

Iโ€™ll wear a hood in winter, but not a hat. Itโ€™s the hair.

Cute! I never wear a hat - visor for golf and ear muffs for winter.

I used to have a winter hat (not a beanine or knitted cap, but a hat) for the few days we get cold enough weather to need one but I loaned it to a family member and never saw it again. I also had a straw sun hat. Technically, I still have it but DH grabbed it to work in the yard rather than go find one of his own. It wound up crushed and muddy. I didn't ask, but I did try to clean it. It is unlikely it will be worn again, so my answer has gone from seldom to not until I buy or make a new one. DH wears hats regularly.

    Love Lucyโ€™s hat!

I wear a sun hat in the summer. I got caught in a downpour and ruined my favorite hat. I replaced it with a slightly bigger one. At least, I thought it was only slightly bigger. Apparently, it was much bigger. When I went to the ladies room at the port gift shop in Cartagena, my hat would not fit in the stall! I had to remove my hat to go to the bathroom.

    She is so so cute.

Now that I am riddled with skin cancer, I am a member of the sunhat club. We have been in FL for 2+ weeks and I havenโ€™t left the house without a hat (except at night). Plus layers of sunscreen. I used to hate hats but have discovered a nice side effect: I donโ€™t have to worry about what my hair looks like. Guess I need to keep my hair on the longer side, bc when my hair was very short, I couldnโ€™t remove a hat without having crazy hair.

In winter, I do wear hats when itโ€™s very cold. I like the CC brand hats because theyโ€™re very stretchy. I have a big head.

For practical (not fashion) purposes, I like Outdoor Research sunhats. They come in multiple sizes. I have a cute woven hat from Talbots, too.

I wear them in the winter and also will wear my wide brimmed hat if I'm walking or working in the garden.

Some of the time, I love a cute hat. My dermatologist has recommended that I always wear one but I am not in the habit yet.

I wear a straw wide brimmed hat when I read outside. Otherwise, no. Don't like what they do to my hair.

Aww, too cute, she is giving LHOP vibes!

@bbstx, that is what church is for, LOL.

I like hats on me, but big fun ones not practical ones. IN winter, I prefer ear muffs.

Yes that hat is screaming Easter!! Bbstx :) Hat hair is a definite problem. I try to time my hair washings around golf as I always wear either a baseball cap or visor on those days.

DD has her kids in hats whenever they are at the pool or beach. There are better options nowadays for kids. that are protective and not merely cute.

Oh, she is so adorable! Yes, I wear hats often. All winter, often a knitted one, almost every time I go out as staying warm is my priority. When shoveling it's like multiple head coverings! In summer it's often a baseball cap as I had to have MOHS surgery 10 or more years ago. A baseball cap doesn't protect ears, however. (My dad had skin cancer including on his ears). In the yard or kayaking, I try to wear wide brimmed khaki sun hats with chin straps. All with a pony tail, so hair is what it is.

My meds make me very sensitive to sunlight so I usually wear them if there are no clouds in the sky. Earmuffs or a hat over my ears if it is coldd.

    What a cutie pie!

I just posted on the what to wear thread. I never ever wore a hat until a few years ago. Not to the beach. Not in the dead of winter (would wear a hood and/or ear muffs). Now I sometimes wear a baseball cap (some days it looks cute; other days it looks ridiculous and I take it off).

I bought a couple beanies for the winter. Only wore one once on our Alaska trip. One of them has some special lining that is supposed to not mess up your hair. Haven't worn it to know if that's true.

I k ow what you mean about the baseball cap looking cute one day and weird the next, Jskโ€ฆ..itโ€™s odd, isnโ€™t it?.

I wear a hat when out in the sun only.

I wear caps almost daily for dog walking and other outside activities. I have a couple of wide brimmed hats that I know I should wear more often, but always seem to look really dorky on me.

I'm kind of crushing on this hat that I saw at Nordstrom's, though I'm not sure how I would put it to use.

Initially posted this on the wrong thread:

I use this gizmo when I travel with a large sun hat. I was surprised at how well it works.

I clamp it on the back of the brim rather than the front. Any deformity of the brim is less obvious that way

I grew up in the era when hats were required at church for females, young and old. I loathed hats as a child, and would often try to sneak into the car on Sundays without one, but, alas, my father always sent me back to get my hat...

Now, I wear hats constantly whenever I am out of the house and love them. They cover my horribly thinning hair and protect my eyes from the all-too bright light (whether sunny or cloudy). All my summer hats are the same style, Scala brand with a broad brim, from the big *A* and I have over a dozen of these in different colors. Love, love, love! My winter hats are likewise bought online and this year I discovered a new-to-me cozy style that is wonderful, with a smaller brim that is sufficient.

I have worn the summer ones for more than 30 years, and they wear well (perhaps because I switch them out often). I often get compliments on both styles -- one checkout fellow likens me to Queen Elizabeth at her garden parties, lol. Altho her hats were far fancier than mine!

Sometimes I find good, foldable/crushable hats (some with spf properties) at specialty garden stores and nurseries, gift shops in botanical gardens (can be expensive), or even where I buy birdseed (Wild Birds).

@bbstx, I love that hat! Itโ€™s just the sort of hat people wear to the Hat Luncheon. Gives me an idea for tying a tulle bow on one this year along with the flowers.
