Satin on the walls? Did you want the whole house to look like a bathroom? I hate the 'hot spots' that appear on the satin walls. It also accentuates any wall imperfections.

I like semi-gloss for trim and matte for walls.

Our sheetrock/plaster guys were pretty good, but I would never paint the walls in anything shinier than eggshell. The small imperfection would be highlighted, specially with large windows.

that's too bad, I would either repaint with an egg shell or matte finish and use a satin finish on the trim, or use the same finish you already have on the trim.

Now you'll have to be very careful where you position lamps, lights and be aware of how the natural light from the windows casts a glare on the wall finish.

What on earth was the reason for satin finish for walls? Never higher than eggshell finish and even that, I would limit to highly active or abused spaces, such as a child's bedroom.

I would never use semi gloss on trim, it's the shine of a boat side - satin is plenty of soft gleam.

Lacquer, any high gleam has a place, and it isn't the whole house.......it begs containment.

To each their own, but go with semi gloss on the trim so when you fix the walls the trim is set.

Satin finish for walls wasn't the right choice, IMO. However, to answer your question, paint the trim the same color as the walls in the same finish. It will make for a no-sheen contrast.

Make sure the ceiling paint is flat finish.

Unless you really had something special in mind to paint all the walls of your house in a satin finish, let us know why or better even show us. Very unusual decision. So I guess I would paint the trim the same finish but I don't know why you would want to make it darker since we cannot see what you've done.

i would never choose satin walls, for all the reasons above, but since you have already done it keep the trim the same.
