my 16 year old grandson and I were talking music and something came up about Elvis and I tried to explain about Elvis in the beginning - his popularity and the controversy of his music and "sexiness." It's really hard to describe to someone who hasn't seen a similar phenomenon (except maybe Taylor Swift's Era's tour) in their generation...then we moved onto the Beatles and he wanted to know what it was like when they came on the scene. All I could say was the girls, the hysteria, the hair, the music, the everything.

Olychick, I think it is wonderful the things you and your grandson talk about. I know you’ve mentioned cars before. And now music.

Allen Toussaint was a wonderful and well respected musician from New Orleans who composed a number of memorable hit songs. This one is Fortune Teller. Another of my favorites of his is Java, an instrumental popularized by Al Hirt.

The first video is Fortune Teller as performed by Toussaint, the second is a cover by the Rolling Stones. It was recorded by many different artists as were many other Toussaint songs.
