Not quite enough info, but sounds like a good idea. What is the other door to, a Master or another Family Room/Lounge? Can you combine the Living Room windows to a single large opening?

Hi 3onthetree, It is a new build im designing so anything can be rearranged. I have zoomed out the image showing the master bed and closet.

I don't know if you are in the U.S., but a balcony off of the Living Room would be an amenity. However, the balcony might be small for that associated use, and the Living area is small in comparison to the Master Bedroom. Also, the exterior doors swing out, the Main entry (?) landing is too small, and the stair winders are not optimal (not code in U.S.). So balcony access is generally good, but beyond that, context is unknown.

Thank you 3onthetree. For context, this is a short term rental accommodation (airbnb) I'm designing for vacationers travelling to the Caribbean. So the US code will not apply to this but i can see the benefit of having a larger balcony and landing. Will lookup the stair winders code.

Why not? Rentals, insurance, so as long as it is safe:

Think about how you would use the balcony, if you had two entrances to it. It looks to be about 10' x 6'. You would not be able to place any seating on the wall that faces the view, as the door swings will interfere. You would be limited to seating on the opposite wall, with your back to the view. Maybe you could have a small table with 2 chairs in the lower right part of the balcony. But other than that, all you can do with it is open the doors, walk out and stand and look at the view. So if that's all you want, then go for it.

@oncape's photos are lovely, but they also only seem to have one entry/exit from the house to the balcony.

Thanks Diana. Yes the use of the balcony will likely just be a look out point. But I can definitely fit a small round table and two small chairs in the lower right corner.
