Hole cut too large wall mount faucet handles

Fabricator cut holes in marble backsplash for wall mounted faucet and handles. Two handles have holes larger than the base for the handle. Posting pic of one of the affected handles. Fabricator suggests using translucent caulk. This is in a primary bathroom that will get a lot of use. I'm concerned about longevity of the proposed solution. Please provide some guidance.

I'd simply glue in matching material with color matched adhesive and finish to match.

See if the faucet manufacturer sells a round escutcheon plate in the same finish and a bit wider than the faucet base.

@chispa It is a Brizo Odin faucet. I didn't see a round plate but can make a call to Brizo to confirm one way or another. Thank you for your suggestion.

That's not a difficult inconspicuous marble repair. If your fabricator won't or can't do it, have it done and subtract it from the balance you owe him.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC Thank you for responding. What would be the correct material and method to do the repair? I want to make sure the final result will last. The fabricator suggested caulk and I feel like that won't be a good long-term solution.
