New patio furniture choice and layout

last month

Looking for advice on both creating a layout and new furniture after adding concrete pad, hot tub and pergola. We’re wanting to update furniture but I’m struggling with choice and layout. Looking for more traditional that is durable in Texas sun as part will be exposed. We’re thinking larger couch / sectional or maybe just larger swivel chairs? Would also like to have a way to eat but maybe just leave that for kitchen area?

Everything I’ve come up with doesn’t seem to flow or define space well or seems too crowded.

Using room planner, space just seems a lot smaller visually than the app. For example, a dining set would fit between outdoor kitchen and the house but in reality, not so.
Measurements in the pic, second is from glass patio doors, entire area can be seen from inside house.

Have I seen this image before? you didn't get the results you had hoped for?

maybe you are expecting too much for the space?

Are you interested in a Texas color scheme or something different? Colors? style? and fixtures? How about some direction?

How many people do you need to seat? What is beyond the built in grill wall? Is there concrete beyond the frig. wing? or is that bar seating?

The concrete floor looks in good shape, but the color of the space is very dark. Do you plan on reusing the furniture and possibly adding to it?

Don’t believe I posted this issue but recently for front landscaping. Not sure about the next comment/question as it’s a bit vague to me on what you’re asking/implying/assuming. We had a 6-person dining table next to new pergola area but selling.

Seems when I add too info much people comment and say it’s a novel, so I was brief and open to ideas.

Two of us but 6 or more several times a year. Seating for 4 at the bar could add 1 more chair. There’s a 4’ concrete area on outside perimeter of bar, all the way around where bar stools are. Ability to pivot seating to a table or area to play mahjong for 4 is also consideration.

Thinking on swapping furniture (maybe not barstools), not modern, perhaps something low maintenance that coordinates with home (beige stucco in back and Austin stone (limestone) on front, dark brown accents. Additionally, I mentioned you can see the outside patio from inside as there’s glass patio doors. Otherwise open to colors and style. Thinking, neutral shades of brown with light cushions. Maybe pops of color in accent pillows and other decor not chosen yet, starting with big pieces.

Clearly not a designer so I ask here and have gotten great advice in past.

Bar height table seen moved or see if 40” diameter table would work in that space. It used to be across from grill. Never intended to go there. I’m a visual person - perhaps that why you commented on not the way I intended came from? If so, that makes sense now.

Are you trying to keep all seating undercover, including dining? I find most people prefer to have their own chairs rather than be piled up on one large sectional. Any colors you object to?

How about a photo of the interior floorings right by the patio door.

I would get a very large outdoor rug that fills the space from door trim to trim (your measurements show 18' 9 " wall), but something like 12 x 9 centered on the door opening to see if you can have all four chairs on the rug. something that mimics the interior decor.... an extension of the living space.

Kat- good thought, I WAS considering sectional. Only to lay down on and it is more but single chairs are definitely more comfy and perhaps break up space? Was thinking a light color to brighten space like light beige/ivory then use accent pillows for more color. I can also return pergola curtains for a lighter set if I do it soon. As Lyn mentioned, its dark and lighter color might tie with white limestone outdoor kitchen.

What's your budget for furniture? It can run from reasonable to outrageous.

Budget is around $3k give or take.found this set at At Home, Monaco collection. Found similar safavieh couture margarita.

Not sure on coffee table. Would like a coordinating dining set to go behind, but haven’t found. Monaco is too big.
