What color would look best for the front door?

last month

White siding, half brick, clay shutters. I may possibly paint the brick white.

Back up and show us a much wider view of your house. At least wide enough to include part of your roof. And your actual front door. All I see is your doggo. 😁

Your dog is cute - but we need to see the entire house!

You want the storm door to be the same color as the exterior front door. As is you have a white storm door, so you want a white front door.

The negative on your house is the phoney, vinyl shutters, which do not fit the windows, and attached to the siding. Truly, awful. Take them off; paint the siding taupe or whatever color goes with the brick. You will get a good look with the three colors: brick, white and siding of choice.

This is the only picture I have at this time. There is a garage on the right which is white siding and white garage door. Just had James Hardie siding installed. Trying to choose color scheme.

What type of front door is it? Picture of the door? Are you painting the same door or replacing? I would not ever paint the brick honestly.

Thanks for the better picture! Now we can see your house.

You could pick just about any color that would blend with your nice red brick. Which I would never paint, obviously. On this site, a common choice with red brick is pale green. And then your front door and screen door could be a deeper sage green.

I would pitch the shutters, like someone else mentioned. Shutters don’t belong on double windows. And since your house is fairly small, they make it look cluttered.

You didn’t ask this, but I would remove all the green growing things and decor from in front of the porch to further reduce the cluttery look. And then your doggy could actually see out!

Sample of red brick and pale sage below.

I would not paint the brick. Choose a bright color that will show through your storm door. It isnt necessary to paint the storm door. It looks good in white. Storm doors have a baked on finish, its best not to repaint them, unless you want to be doing maintenance on something that is now very low maintenance. Yours also matches your trim.

I like the color scheme on it now, it reminds me of the house in the Mar. issue of Southern Living on pg. 25 that I really like. I tried to send a pic but my phone is not cooperating. It's an ad for their landscaping plants, if anyone has a copy and can send it. They have a stained front door though. I think you can do a lot with landscaping to improve the look.
