Needing help with light sage paint color for my dark laundry room!

Getting ready to "redo" our laundry room. I'm having a really hard time finding a Sherwin Williams light sage or olive paint in this windowless room. Everything turns blue, so I just ordered new light bulbs.

The internet told me: "Switch to Warm Lighting 2700K - 3000K. Soft white or warm white bulbs are crucial. Avoid bulbs labeled "Daylight" or “5000k” as they produce a bluish tint". Those will be in later today.

No windows and I need a lighter sage/olive color. I want it to look fresh and clean. Any suggestions? I will include a before and after pic (cabinets are installed next week and yes I'm removing that awful border)!

BEFORE (what was I thinking 25 years ago)...

AI pic of after: New Speed Queen Washer/Dryer - yay! And cabinets - FINALLY!

Any help on paint colors would be great!

My mess of paint samples (post-its are LRV). Again, according to the internet (LOL) a lot of those darker colors looked a lot lighter online!

Maybe even a recommendation on a Light Reflective Value number that will make it feel more open!

THANK YOU!

Why green at all? As for the lighting 4000K is a great choice it mimics bright daylight yes 5000K is too blue and 3000K too yellow . I like Healing Aloe from BM you can get color matched in SW but why SW? BTW I would prime those walls after 25 yrs then choose wall color

I like the Healing Aloe! Thank you! I don't know why - I just want green. I usually go with Sherwin Williams because that is what my painter uses. I just don't see the need in this room to use Benjamin Moore (although I know it's the best). He is coming before the cabinet installation to take down the border and prime. Then, he will come after and paint again because he said they usually scratch up the walls when they install the cabinets. I could color match but I heard that doesn't always work out that well. Maybe I will look at Sea Salt from SW. Was wanting a little more "sagey" though.

SW Sea salt will green up with a blue accent in the space.

We just did a bath and guest room in BM healing aloe - really fresh yet still serene. I do love sage - here are some reccos https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/the-best-sage-green-inspired-paint-colors/

Prime the yellow walls with two coats of white primer, then there will be no yellow reflections on your paint samples. Also, switching to "bright white" bulbs in 3500-4000K range will give you good light for finding and removing stains.

I know it’s a BM color but revere pewter comes off as a light sage. It’s on our laundry cabinets and we love it and have had good success with color matching.

    Oh wow! Thank you!

The two paints are actually very similar. For some reason the Gemini appears to have computed different (warmer) room lighting for the Behr paint.

Thank you wdccruise! You are using photos of my old laundry room (new one is above with cabinets) but I get the picture! Appreciate the time you took to do this. I am definitely staying away from white or beige. I want some sort of green for sure!

Are the greens from the late 1990's and early 2000's coming back? Is it the latest Instagram trend?

I have seen several posts recently asking about "sage" colors!

You want lighting in the 3000K to 4000K range.

All your sample chips look gray or muddy, so you aren't looking at the right colors.

"You are using photos of my old laundry room"

Because the second photo was labeled, "AI pic of after..."

My laundry room is similar to yours-white cabinets and no natural light. I just painted mine last year in Behr Softened Green. It definitely reads green with no gray undertones. Here are a few pics if that helps.

So, nothing is changing in the laundry closet, except the wall color? You will not get a result like your inspiration photo.

Real rooms don't have that ethereal AI lighting!

For a brighter, more lively green, look at BM Georgian Green.

Thank you all! Oncape - cabinets installed next week and new washer dryer (read my post)!

If possible, prime the walls before the cabinets and washer dryer get installed. The Speedqueens weigh a ton and are hard to move.

I've decided on Acanthus. Has a higher LRV and I personally just love the color. I think it will look good with the champagne gold cabinet handles? I appreciate all the advice and used it when I was searching yesterday (for HOURS)... I've been to Sherwin Williams 3 times lol! It's more "green" than the AI photo I made above but that is OK with me. Oh, I also changed the lightbulbs as suggested and WOW what a difference! I'll definitely be able to see the actual laundry better!

I also taped some white letterhead on the wall and then the paint strips to see what it would look like. I don't have the time to test it after the primer. Everything happens next week and I want it done before an event we have at our house in May so it's GO time!!

apple_pie_order - YES. If all goes as planned the Speed Queens will go in LAST. Won't be a problem - they are purchased, in stock and they are holding them for me!

SW Acanthus will be beautiful. Nice choice. Don’t forget to post “after” shots.

That looks like another pretty green. I went through this and ended up with Contented as an accent wall and love it as well...
