Fireplace finish is just fine as is the mantle finish.

Bev I think sconces that orient up will be too high for this situation. But I do agree that a sconce with a shade would be better. Less visual glare with the TV. And yes mantle is fine. Trim color that goes with Wool Skein is noted in your other post.

I dont see anything wrong with your fireplace, nor your trim. I do agree, on window treatments and those sconces.
