I would love suggestions on a color to paint my house

last month

I’d like to paint my house this year and could really use help selecting a color. The roof is new (color selected by the previous owner). I’m usually pretty good at color coordination, but the roof is throwing me off. I’m not a fan of painting brick but in this case, I'm not opposed because in the future, I hope to reside the house and remove the brick. There is 3 blue/grey houses across the street, one white on one side and tan on the other. The house is located in a shore area in NJ, although it’s about 10 miles from the beach. Suggestion, please?

The first photo was taken today, a little overcast. Second, is on a sunny day.

The roof and brick look fine together. Rather than repainting would you maybe invest in a new post and rail? What does the front door look like - the solid or the glass panels?

I'd try to unify the color to make it more of a statement. Your Black wrought iron accents will stand out.

BM Honeycomb for the siding body and garage door.

BM Swiss Coffee for the trim

and an accent color for the front door. BM Caliente or Heritage Red. or some other color that you love.

Also, landscaping would really make an impact to up the charm.

Cute house! Maybe just a creamier white to go with the warm colors of the brick and roof, which look good together btw. I think a pretty color for your front door would look nice. Perhaps a teal green or even a light blue. When I wanted a creamy white for my trim, I used SW Alpaca at 75%. No undertones and it reads like a true off-white in my east facing front yard.

A nice, tidy little brick home. I wouldn’t paint the brick, and I like the roof with its well-chosen shingles that blend very well with the brick.

The current white is too sharp, cold and has a blue-gray cast which is not pleasant with the brick. Look for a warmer white or pale cream.

Replace wrought iron column with a solid white column. Paint door a color and invest in landscaping

Muted green, olive, sage would work with your brick

    Acacia Hase SW

    October Mist

    Clary Sage SW

    Green Onyx SW

I would go with light taupe color, not so contrast.

going off of Celerys color choices, I also painted the door, and gave you sorely needed new garage door. (your front door is more MCM, so make the rest of the house match it)

    more MCM style door

Also gave you a more modern cedar post. you can stain it or paint it.

landscaping will be 75% or the curb appeal. how about a walk way w/more modern cement stepping stones?

with the color scheme above, this black and cream would look great.

Mulch the flower bed w/some natural rocks and black pebble or black mulch. (obviously NJ can't handle the succulents!) plant something that works w/your climate.

    don't overlook a good hardscape:

Similar home updated w/a very nice landscape, porch decor, and (notice the horizontal wood on the porch. this brick was painted, obviously, but landscape is the key.

teals and slate blues will also be a natural compliment to the orange

garage door makes a HUGE diff to the appearance. then imagine the landscape.

another one that was painted, but just look at the landscape. simple cement pavers, lights, and plants.

orange brick w/the darker gray tones

another one w/the wood porch siding and porch roof underside. (this landscaping is horrible lol)

Thank you all for the suggestions. Just to add, the rail post is on the list for the future. the goal will be to cover the cement patio with a raised wooden porch and change the rail support to a post. As for the landscaping, the first photo, the beds were just mulched and the daffodils were just planted last year. Next spring they should fill in nicely. By next month, vina fill in the area. We have a huge deer population here, so there’s limited choices.

I would not remove the brick is something worth keeping IMO. A nice green siding would be my choice to go with the brick . I agree landcspaing will be the best bang for your buck.I love this color with brick. Not sure if you love MCM but the front door leans that way I like this landscaping for MCM

Great suggestions already - i’ll just add we boxed in metal columns on a ranch many years ago - a handyman just build wood boxes around the existing columns, trimmed them and we painted them, the simpler, chunkier columns streamlined the facade and made a big impact for very little money

How much of a statement do you want to make if you do a new garage door? Please do t do a solid black - that just doesn’t work on your homes scale.

I like the roof because it is so like a cedar shingled roof we have here on Cape Cod.

The brick is obviously applied for decoration, doesn't wrap the house; painting it white is the way to go, IMO. It cuts the facade in half. The garage door I would match to the roof.
