Tub Dilemma: Free Standing or Drop In?

Remodeling my primary bath and removing the 1990’s style built-in whirlpool jet tub. The new free standing tub would need to be no more than 4 feet long to fit the space. Does it make more sense to put in a drop-in tub? I feel the drop-in tub might look dated but is the free standing tub practical and is it too trendy?

If it is a tight space think about how you would clean around and behind a free standing tub.

Undermount tub with a surround. Much easier to get in and out of as well as for cleaning it.
