Pairing SW Creamy 7012 on walls with SW HRW 7757 on ceiling

last month

Deciding whether to match trim color to ceiling color.

For the hall bathroom remodel, we have selected SW Creamy 7012 on the walls and SW High Reflective White (HRW) 7757 on the ceiling. My painter says that he usually uses the same color (but different sheen) on the trim (casing and wood baseboard) as on the ceiling.

Throughout the house, I have BM Chantilly Lace (OC-065 / 2121-70) on the ceilings and BM White (OC-151) for the trim and interior doors.

I realize that BM White and SW HRW are close. Which one makes sense to use for the trim? Will it be weird to have the hallway side of the interior door painted BM White while the bathroom side of the interior door is painted SW HRW?

Photo below shows sample of SW Creamy with the cabinet and countertop material. The second photo shows the bathroom door before remodeling (looks blue in this photo, but it is white).

Be consistent and use the BM paint for all your trim and doors. No sense in making things more complicated in your house.

Do you have HRW on the ceilings in the rest of your home? If you just have the SW Premixed Ceiling White I would continue with that because it's premixed, less expensive and designed to hide flaws in the ceilings.

HRW is not available in all SW product and it cannot be matched/duped in other brands.

Looking at the numbers, it's hard to justify HRW, OC-151 makes more sense all things considered.

Then I will specify BM White (OC-151) for the trim and interior door.

What about the ceiling? SW HRW? Also considered SW White Snow 9541, which is in the yellow family but still lighter than SW Creamy.

My painter will be using SW Duration in satin sheen for walls & ceiling. This product has worked well in my downstairs bathroom (high humidity). The drywall on the ceiling and two of the walls is brand new and recently primed -- no flaws to hide.

Yes. Lighter and less Chroma (more neutral). It works. I like it.

I don't like anything with a gloss higher than eggshell for walls and I keep the ceilings flat, flat flat.

I agree, ceilings flat. Walls eggshell or matte, and trim satin or semi gloss your choice. Use the same white on the ceiling that you have used on your other ceilings. Use the same white on your trim, as the rest of your trim is. Too many different whites, is not a good look.

We chose SW #9541 White Snow for the ceiling and I like how it looks. Previously, a painter used a less expensive brand (Behr, maybe), matched to BM Chantilly Lace on the ceilings throughout the house. I would not have been able to get an exact match for the ceiling in this bathroom. I continued with BM base white for the baseboard.

We have 2 or 3 weeks before we need to commit to the wall paint color, after the furniture-style vanity and countertop are installed.

We started second-guessing our choice of SW #7012 Creamy on the walls and asked the painter for a second sample: SW #7103 Whitetail. Photos attached. Creamy is so close to the primer on the walls that is difficult to see. The last two photos below (in the corner) were taken at different times: 3:30p and 5:30p. We have one vote for Creamy and one vote for Whitetail.
