Adjacent to the island but where is it in relationship to the other cabinets? Can you post a picture? I think size and layout of space are really key in this context.

The kitchen is in the demo process so I don't have a picture. If this helps, the island will be 66 long and 46 wide. It is parallel to the wall with the fridge and range. The dry bar about 72 inches wide with cabinets on top) will be on a wall to the right of the island about 4 feet from the end of the island. Between the island and the dry bar is open space. The family room is open to the kitchen area.

I don't plan to use a chimney vent. Just an under cabinet vent or conceled cabinet vent.

I would do white. The black will show every speck of dust etc.

How tall are the ceilings? I’m guessing too tall to take the cabinets to?

Yes, they're very tall and on a slant as well. Probably 16 ft at the highest point

Thank you for your input. The dry bar will be a beverage fridge, microwave drawer, and drawers. It will have a lighted glass cabinet on the top middle. I'll post 2 additional photos that can better show the kitchen.

How far along are you? Everything already ordered?

I would consider stacked cabinets for a kitchen with 16 ft ceilings. I have stacked cabinets with my 12 ft ceilings. Single cabinets would have looked short/squat in the space.

Here's a rendering of what the dry bar would be like in white rather than the black that I posted first.

Thanks to all who gave me opinions! I am going to decide in the next day or two. I see reasons for continuity to keep everything white, including the island which is smaller-69 inches long. I see reasons to make the dry bar area black to differentiate the area and make it a focal point. I don't know if the island and the dry bar should be black and the rest white. It might look like I tried to do 2 different kitchens. I'll try and post a picture of each again in case anyone else can weigh in.

I've decided to do the perimeter cabinets and the dry bar all white and the island black. Thanks for input. If anyone has advice on whether to do a stainless steel chimney hood vent or a white hood that matches the cabinets, I would like to hear it.
