Your Option #3 gets my vote. BM Pashmina is lovely. since you are south facing you could even go a bit darker. BM Smoky Ash?

BM Deep in Thought is very similar to BM Swiss Coffee, but more modern.

Oh thank you so much for your input! I totally agree with going a bit darker for the south-facing sun—it’s been my biggest worry.
Could you tell me which specific BM colors you think would work well here? I’d love to try a couple of them out. Also, I’m really into the Deep in Thought trim idea you mentioned, that sounds exactly like the modern, warm look I want!

Aww, thank you! I wish I could keep it as is, but the color’s been fading for years now—it’s over 10 years old. You’re right, it does look good from the backyard though!

You mention sunlight...all of the samples look quite cool toned in the shade except for a tiny bit of sun in one photo. Especially considering the house faces South there is no sunlight.

Also what color is the roof? That should be a consideration.

You’re so right, the original colours are full of warmth! I’ve been playing with so many renders too, and it’s been such a tough call. I’m leaning towards grey to brighten things up a bit, but I’m still nervous about losing that cozy feel.

“… gray to brighten things up a bit.” If I wanted to make something bright, gray would be my next-to-last choice. The last being black.

Honestly I have a grey house so I get it. The greenery arpund your house makes me think you may be pacific north west type area. Grey is super popular and looks great. But it isn’t bright. It’s calm and soft and blends in but your current colour stands out and is welcoming and different.

You’re right, that’s exactly why I’m going with a light warm grey instead of a dark one. Fingers crossed it’ll feel bright and cozy at the same time!

I would repaint it, with the same colors you already have. Its beautiful now, and with gray, it could be a bit bland.

I think the house has enough gray with the stone and roof. I would use brown on the shingles and a faux cedar finish for the garage doors and porch detail.

I’ve tried so many warm gray colors from the paint swatches, but once I put them on the walls, they look completely different.

My original plan was to have walnut-colored garage doors, but the painter said my garage doors aren’t wood, so they can’t get a realistic wood grain finish. If we force this color on them, the doors will end up looking really cheap. That’s why I changed my mind. I’ve been to Benjamin Moore store more than a dozen times already, and none of the colors I brought back feel quite right compared to what I imagined.

You could always paint the garage doors a brown wood color for the same overall effect.

I’ve had many painters come to look at the project. I wanted my garage doors painted in a walnut tone, but none of them could do it. I also talked to a designer at Benjamin Moore, who said painting a wood color on non-wood garage doors would make them look tacky.

I’ve already hired a team. They have finished power washing and are replacing the damaged wood. Now everything is ready for painting, and I’m in a real rush to pick the final color. I’ve been struggling with this choice for half a year.

It may be worth using a color consultant for something that's such a big commitment both time and cost wise. Lori A. Sawaya, who is on this site, is unmatched in color work.

I tried colors recommended by different designers, but all look too white on the wall. I got a new sample today and will pick the final color.

I asked AI for a light gray and a charcoal gray, neutral grays, not too warm or too cool. These are not paint colors.

It looks simiilar to Silhouette, which Ben Moore pairs with Pashmina.

Could also be SW Black Fox which is dark and the tint may need to be cut somewhat.

I know I sounded anti grey and I do still love the red for your house but throwing it out tirrr for your consideration. We have our home painted Benjamin Moore Storm. We are in Vancouver BC and trialed many colours to get here. It looked entirely different depending on time of day. You can even see in these two pics how different it looks.

My only concern is that once they’re painted on the whole house, they might lose that warm, earthy feel and look different in the Vancouver light.
