It started as a $999 clearance impulse buy at Sam's Club. A cedar gazebo kit that sat in our garage for six months while I tried to figure out what to do with a 10x10 footprint that was never going to be enough.

What ended up happening was... not that.

I'm not going to list everything we built inside and around it because honestly it sounds made up when you read it all at once. Let's just say it went from a small flat-pack kit to something that guests walk into for the first time and go completely quiet for a few seconds.

The structural approach was unusual — I won't say it's the only way, but it's held through six years of storms without a single issue. The roofline was the part I was most nervous about. Low slope, unconventional material choice, and it had to tie into the original kit in a way that looked intentional rather than bolted-on.

It did. People assume it was designed that way from the start.
