Add one more photo taken with the fireplace at your back.

Photos distort distances so measurements are more useful. Also the measurements of your furniture.

The curved sofa is great but I would ideally like more space between the seating area and the fireplace since it feels a bit too enclosed right now. A nice big U-shape sofa would allow for lots of seating room while leaving walking space all around. Alternatively, two loveseats facing each other in the place of the bench and the two armchairs would also look balanced. That would require a whole set of new furniture, though, but that's what my brain is visualizing as the best layout. If you want to keep these pieces, I would keep the curved sofa where it is right now and place the armchairs on both sides of the fireplace (leaving some room in between of course), so that they're facing the sofa diagonally. The bench is saved for another room.

The proportions of this space are really hard to work with. This room was not designed to have a TV at all, that would look good or have an ergonomic placement.

Hard to tell room and furniture proportions. Could you exchange the bench and couch (IF tv can go elsewhere)…may not fit given its size + the entry on the left of the fireplace. Similar to below, but in reverse.

If you end up keeping as is, due to tv and no other options, a larger more weighty coffee table would improve functionality and balance.

I think the room is lovely and works as is. If I were to try anything it would be to take the Divan and place it opposite the sofa in front of the fireppace then take one chair and place it where the divan was. Space the chairs straight on to the cocktail table. See how this feels . Not sure if you have the depth there to make the Divan work in this configuration but I think its worth a try. Also I think a round cocktail table would be a better choice in this space for your sofa shape.

Can you tell us a bit more about how you want the room to function, compared to how it works now? How many people to watch TV comfortably? How many in a conversation at the same time?

How many can sit on the curved sofa? Hard to tell from the picture.

The backless bench doesn't seem useful for comfortable seating.

Are you considering any new furniture pieces?

I would spin the rug, center it on the fireplace, move the sofa closer to the fireplace and place the chaise behind the sofa. The chairs on either side of the sofa.

Wouldn’t moving sofa closer make watching tv hard?

What a pretty living room! I would turn the sofa so it faces towards the front door and place it at an angle to the room. The square cocktail table doesn’t seem the best choice for the curved sofa, so consider changing the square top for a round one. Maybe find a new home for the bench. The tv seems to be mounted very high. Is this the main room for watching tv? Could it be artwork instead? You may have room to add a small table to hold a lamp and a drink at the end of the sofa.

What Emily said about the cocktail table--the square doesn't work with the curved sofa. I'd get a round one or a round upholstered ottoman.

One other thought if there is not another room for tv watching, I’d be tempted to change the tv to a Samsung Frame and then use the mantel mount to bring it down when watching - not ideal as the Frame won’t sit totally flush when not in use but a good compromise imo

Hi everyone! Thank you for all the recs! I appreciate it more than you know:) this room is not actually used to watch TV. Unfortunately for me, I was not able to persuade my husband away from mounting the TV smack dab on this wall.
After review of all comments & renderings (THANK YALL!!!!) I am going to get a piece of glass cut in a round/oval shape to mimic the curve of the couch. I will move the bench entirely.

Just one more thought: your rug is pretty and goes well with your furnishings, but it's retangular and your new living room space is pretty square. You may want to consider a square rug if you replace your current one. Square is harder to find, but they're out there. You can always do a custom one if it's in the budget.

It really is a beautiful room, and doesn't need very much!
