The last (I promise!) chapter in my refrigerator saga . . .

last month
last modified: last month

For those of you who aren't familiar with my refrigerator tale, I bought a new Frigidaire Gallery fridge in March of last year. I had a series of problems with it, and in my previous update I'd started thinking about the possibility of selling it.

I continued thinking along those lines, while the fridge continued to annoy me every day. I don't think of myself as someone who's easily annoyed, but one of the French doors wouldn't stay open, and the temperature fluctuated. Also, at 20 cu. ft., a couple of cubic feet less than my previous fridge, it felt a little too small.

I checked out Facebook Marketplace first as I've had good experiences selling there. It was loaded with refrigerators. I found a listing for my exact model, except the seller was a dealer offering a brand new one. The selling price was less than I'd hoped to get--and the listing was many months old. Obviously, if I stuck with that plan it would be a very long process. And if mine did sell, when you factor in the potential nuisance of juggling delivery of the new one with pickup of the "old" one, the idea of selling lost its charm in a hurry.

So I offered the Frigidaire to my son and daughter-in-law. With huge gardens and three sons--eager eaters all--I figured they could use an extra fridge. They happily agreed.

I knew the replacement fridge I wanted: the current version of the refrigerator I had before I bought the Frigidaire. Mine had been a Kenmore, made by Amana. I used it over 20 years. The new one is an Amana, made by Whirlpool. I know better than to assume a new one will last as long, but the layout and size (22 cu. ft.) are the same, and the freezer is still on the bottom, with one door on top. The new one is stainless steel.

When it was in my kitchen, up and running, I breathed a sigh of relief.

I wish Chisue could have seen this. 💜
