The angle of the tv seems like a horrid neckache! Hem the existing curtain panels so they just kiss the carpet. Place the couch with its back to the back of the bed and add a coffee table and another chair. Create a little sitting area orientated to the fireplace and windows. If the bedroom carpet is staying I still might find a large area rug that reinforces the blue and white. There's a wall not shown. We need a measured outline of the room to really look at a new arrangement. I am thinking the fireplace is electric and could be relocated?

- If you could provide the layout with measurements/structural components (doorways, closet, windows). It seems the seating area and tv could do with some reconfiguration. Is the fireplace electric and can be moved?

- Can you provide a close up of the art (I think its location is not doing it or the room justice as it‘s squeezed in).

- If open to other colors what do like as bedding especially (style and color) is the best place to start. Given it‘s a summer home, I’d keep it fresh and light.

- Agree the window treatments need updating. Since the large arch is not covered, do the other two need to be? Suggest having a consultant in to discuss options.

- Are you open to adding a rug to ground the seating area and if so, you could then float it and place tv opposite so it can be viewed from seating and the bed. It will create a warmer, less vast feel (per picture above).

- Where the love seat was think about adding a bookcase and a reading chair at window.

This totally depends on how you use the space. Do you only sleep int he room? If so bed in front of window and and somewhat ignore size of room good idea. Focus on view from bed. If you enjoy relaxing and being in space too i would create living space centred on the view with a sofa and chairs. There is tons of space i. The too

Room is approx 40’ by 25’. Yes fireplace electric and can be moved and open to moving seating area around. And new bedding ceiling fans, drapes, etc. the big windows are covered because of blinding light in morning I don’t like the shades but my husband put them up and it will be a battle if I remove them. Need darkening window treatments on that wall cause sun comes blaring in at sunrise and it is so bright

I woild get rid of the fireplace. It doesn’t add value. Simply love the sofa to a prime viewing spot for the view and worn arpund it.

Experiment..try your couch perpendicular to the middle window. You want to create a “seating area” that fills/balances the room so add an ottoman or coffee table.

Suggest a console and tv (or bigger) to left of the window. A large plant or reading chair/floor lamp would look nicer in the corner vs the fireplace.

First turn the bed and face the view in that size room the bed could float in the middle .FP makes no sense in fact looks cheap . A to scale plan will get you real help BTW

If keeping the bed in present spot and if you need decor over the headboard,find a narrower pic whose top edge is in line with top of the windows.
Feature the poppy pic in a space where it can act as a highlight.

Please don't base your decisions on some inexpensive wall decor that is scaled too small to even work in a bedroom this size.

The fake corner fireplace doesn't work in this room either. This room is huge and all the items you're selecting are all incorrectly scaled for its size. If you want a TV, then one that rises from the base of the bed or a chest is a better choice so you can see it.

Another possibility is to place an electric fireplace on this wall with the TV mounted above to satisfy your request for a fireplace and a TV.

You can mount a think fireplace diretly on the wall with the TV mounted above and not need a piece of furniture to house the fireplace or support the TV.

Relocate the poppies to a more appropriately size wall in the house. No one is telling you to get rid of it.

I wouldn’t get rid of it or not use it. I just wouldn’t design around it. I would plan a spot for it and then move on. Sentimental pieces are special.

Question - do you need the arched top windows covered as they are currently? I noticed that the photos from the prior owners do not have any window coverings on the entire set of windows on the wall.

If you decide to keep this painting somewhere in your bedroom, there appear to be many colors that could be pulled from it. It looks like there are some different shades of blue that would look nice in a coastal bedroom.

You have SO much room - you could add a bed that has more of a presence (I'm not thinking of the right word to use here!). You also could add a bench seat or a couple of accent chairs at the foot of it (I'd probably use a bench at the foot of your bed - you definitely need a cozy seating area in your room = you might not want accent chairs in the seating area + at the foot of .your bed?)

Many coastal bedrooms have added some type of ceiling treatment (planks/beams/etc)

Adding moulding on the walls would look nice - your bedroom is so large - adding more layers of texture will make it feel a bit cozier.

Another ceiling treatment added to a coastal bedroom. You can bring in some beachy wood tones or use white planks (or a combination of the two).

Place the poppy painting in another room. It is special to you but gets completely lost in the vastness of this room. It is not going to read as connected to coordinating colors even if you do base your color on it. Your dining room seems a great place hang it. Would look lovely in there.

How often do you sit on this sofa, use the fireplace, watch TV in here and from bed or the sofa?

Do you have a blind too for the middle window? I wonder if you couldhave the back of the black upper window blinds made in a color to match the walls so they blend in better.

the room is massive but much of the furniture is too small in scale for the room. nothing matches. firstly, Id get rid of the side curtains, black blinds, other venetian blinds and valances. Replace blinds with room darkening shades in off white. buy ready made or custom drapes(my advice),for all windows,that will fall to floor. paint the ceiling a taupe color such as SW Agreeable beige or BM Pale Oak and the walls a soft blue or green such as Sherwin Wms Sea Salt or Benjamin Moore Mt St. Anne or on the darker side, Sherwin Wms Moody Blue or Benjamin Moore Gibraltar Cliffs. I can see why you cannot move the bed to face the view ( doors too close on either side) unless the bed and nitetables are moved more toward the center of the room. then how to plug in table lamps without cords trailing from wall outlets unless you lift carpet and have infloor outlets installed. Otherwise use wall between doors for dresser as it seems from pics, thats where dresser is currently. remove the fireplace. if you feel you want a fireplace get a wall model and place tv on wall above on opposite wall from wall bed is. Although the pic over bed is lovely, it does not belong in that bedroom as it is way too small in scale and the colors are too heavy for the room. you need large pics on your walls that pick up other colors in the room. or buy a large pics with subtle blues/sage/turquoise n draw a color from the pic to paint the walls. you need a large bench at the bottom of your bed. Buy a love seat and chair with round table(s) and lamps for sitting area. your sitting area can be infront of the fireplace or in front of windows to sit and enjoy the view. your bed furniture is light so id buy same tone for seating and add color with layered bedding n throw cushions.

Which doors lead where? Looks like the one on far right leads to a bathroom? what about the other two? Where it the actual entrance into the room?

What are the measurements of this room? A drawing with each wall measured as well as doorways (where they lead) and windows (all measured) is what is needed before we can really give you a plan of action.

I will say one thing in the previous owners photos if one of those doors is the entrance to the room then the bed should not be placed on that wall. Even if not look how the bedside tables are overlapping the doors.

I think you are limiting yourself with the art. I would move it into your living areas like you mentioned. It is better suited for that space.

My first thought when I saw your photo was "That's a living room, not a bedroom!" Uncovered windows in my bedroom would be a complete non-starter for me. I guess I would learn to sleep with eye shades.
