I've done two kitchen remodels. Electrical was inspected both times (before the cabinets went in). There was no inspection following the installation of the cabinets.

That said - the kitchen shown is a disaster! Based on what are likely 12" upper cabinets, the tiles look to be 4". I can't imagine any gas cooktop that allows a combustible surface 20" above it.

Where do you suppose the fridge and oven might be?

I'll give them credit for taking the uppers to the ceiling, and the wood looks lovely, but I could not live with that layout.

@AnnKH Yes the kitchen is a disaster. Here are a few more pictures of the kitchen. The kitchen is basically just that corner with the cook top and sink and then the fridge area. Hardly any counter space. I think ym daughters tiny apartment kitchen has about the same amount of counter space. It seems like there is so much wasted space in the middle of the kitchen. Maybe they will buy some sort of island for the middle?? No clue.

I would think an inspector would have red flagged that but maybe they just do not care and bought the house anyway???

Luckily, humans are extremely adaptable! I expect your friends will figure out how to make the kitchen work. That sun room makes up for a lot of other sins!

It's dumb ergonomically and a fire hazard. Inevitably done without the help of any professional to counter their "ideas".

I just tore out a kitchen for a client with those exact same cabinets. They were IKEA and were in really bad condition. The realtor photos looked decent enough, but up close and personal? They were awful. My point is...someone did this kitchen without much design help. And it shows.

@The Kitchen Place Yes very poor design. I still wonder how that passes inspection. Maybe the upper cabinets weren't above the cooktop and were added after? Or maybe the previous owner never pulled permits therefore no inspection needed?

Don't worry according to the zillow description it has a sleek hidden dishwasher that keeps the space clean and modern. Don't worry about the cook top that may burn your house down. I had to laugh when I read the part about the dishwasher.
