My 4' x 5' bathroom has the door swing out into the bedroom. House next door has saloon doors. Maybe that's the same thing you are calling French doors. The door is split in half vertically and each piece swings both in and out of the bathroom.

Design Fan The only issue with that is the wall would need to be reframed in its entirety and pocket doors are terrible for bathrooms typically.

We did split/french/salon doors (whatever they are called) when we did a master bath reno project seven years ago. I took the idea from a hotel we frequent.
