Your garden is a delight, Jackie! Thank you for the long shots. They really offer a great view of the design and structures and a sense of how your roses mingle with other plants. I love that your garden is filled with family history! Your photos are especially fun for me because you and I both garden on inner city lots with foot traffic and bustling businesses nearby. I have been inspired by all the work you and DH have put into your urban paradise. I decided to share some of my garden long shots this year, too, on my Gallica thread in hope that others with postage stamp sized lots like mine will feel encouraged. Carol

Thank you Carol. I know the dark photos look strange when you first glance at them, but if you click on them, I think they look sort of magical. All of my roses are so happy, and they all decided to bloom at the same time.

I did look at your "long shots" too - I love your plantings and the wealth of beauty. I will post some more of mine (taken in daylight) including the parts right by the sidewalk - it is fun to see pedestrian's reactions as they arrive next to our property - our lot is sort of triangular, with the widest part at the street, so our property along the sidewalk takes up about half of a block. We have roses along the entire length - including the strip between the sidewalk and the street - I just have to make sure that the sidewalk and the 3 short paths (as well as our driveway apron) we have running between the sidewalk and the street (so people can get in and out of their cars wihtout being eaten by the roses) stay clear.
