Weird. The lip isn’t the only reason to like slide-ins but it’s definitely one of them, for me. I looked at Basch and it appears they’re still doing it. I had one and won’t go so far as to recommend it, but it appears there are some choices out there.

I do not know of any that have that now. You can buy gap guards to slide into that gap . Just google stove gap guards.

I have a Bosch dishwasher.. I don't mind Bosch ..but I did want to keep it simple if I could....(not air fryers and such) ..I could have sworn Bosch did NOT overlap! The picture of the Bosch slide in looks really really strange .the back is definitely not an overlap...a vent! I would have to have my countertop modified. But I will call AJ Madison and ask. Thank you.....

@bathroom I see what you mean, the 800 has the vent and the 300 doesn't have lip. Mine had 3 sides overhang but that was a few years ago, sorry. Persobally I would still just go for a new range rather than spend a bunch of money refurbishing something that’s old and not special. Unless your existing cutout is so soecific that it won’t accommodate something else well.

BeverlyFLADeziner I am not "rough" on my range. Samsung is pretty much Junk. Pricey junk. I did not know you could not "wash" the stove knobs with dish soap (I called Samsung after the print washed off)...they said you can only wipe off with water....they said you cannot put any water in the shallow "pan" in the bottom of the oven (yet you have to put a little bit of water in it when you steam clean the oven per their instructions)... They already had to replace the glass top and and the door once. I did write to AJ MADISON...maybe I can find a slide in range like the old styles.

I contacted AJ Madison. I called them TRUE SLIDE IN ELECTRIC RANGES ARE NO LONGER MADE. The only difference between a free standing electric and a slide in electric is that the controls on the free standing are on a raised panel in the back!! OMG!!! I have to restore a piece of junk SAMSUNG!!!

Are you searching for a radiant range (i.e., range whose burners glow red and get hot) or an induction range?

We're going to strongly recommend induction. The functional difference is massive. For radiant I'd only buy used off Marketplace. There are tons of them. . . .for good reasons.

I WANT a SLIDE IN ELECTRIC RANGE WITH A RADIANT HEAT TOP and the choice of a conventional oven. and the oven must overhang the countertop and both sides and the back. I am told NO ONE makes these types of ranges anymore.

Buy what you want used off FBook Marketplace. Tons of people getting rid of them. Get two so you covered for the future. They heat the glass to 750 degrees. Why not higher? Because cooking oil ignites at 800 degrees for a kitchen fire you'll need to smother. No water.

• The GE JD630STSSGE Drop-In Electric Range cooktop overlaps the countertop and the range is supported by the countertop at the sides and rear.
• GE JSS86SPSS Slide-In Electric Convection Double Oven Range sits on the floor and the JXFILLR1BB Slide in Range Filler Kit can be used to fill the gaps between the range and the surrounding countertop (sides and rear).
• I wouldn't get either of those. I'd get the GE Profile PHS700AYFS Slide-In Induction Range instead. The same filler kit can be used with this range.

I had a drop in range in a previous home. It was dropped into a cabinet.

Slide-in ranges are designed to fit snugly between cabinets for a seamless, built-in look, while drop-in ranges are installed into a custom cutout in cabinetry, providing a more furniture-like appearance. Each has unique installation requirements and aesthetic benefits, so the choice depends on your kitchen design preferences. AND you can get an Induction if you would like. I would NOT like an Induction.

How muchn cookin have you done on induction? Cleanup alone is 100x easier than radiant. Temp change is instant. Radiant is so slow it's like you do not have much control/ And btheb glass just gets slightly warm not 750 degrees. Frigidaire has a good priced slide-in.

The cooktop of the Bosch HEI8056U 30 Inch Slide-In Electric Range overlaps the countertop on both sides, eliminating any gap. You would need to remove the countertop at the rear of the range.

The Frigidaire Gallery GCFE3059BF is CR-recommended. Its cooktop does not extend over the countertop. You would need to remove the countertop at the rear of the range.

The Sharp SSR3065JS 30 Inch Slide-In Electric Range is closer to what you want. The sides of the cooktop extend over countertop, the back edge of the range extends over countertop behind the range* as described on page 5 of the installation manual, and the range is shallower than the Bosch range. You would not need to remove the countertop at the rear of the range.

Read the Sharp owners manual. Convection bake appears to be an option. $1500 at Home Depot.

wdccruise I wrote to Sharp corporate appliance help line regarding their slide in electric ovens. I told them I want one with the conventional oven....I will see what they say. Thank you again for the help!!

Just to be clear, you do understand that convection is just one of the oven's choices of operating modes and that you don't have to use the convection functions if you don't want to? You know you can run the oven as a conventional one simply by selecting plain "bake" instead of "convection bake" or "convection roast" when you want to use the oven?

There's an image of the oven control panel on page 11 of that manual. You want a standard bake, just push the "bake" pad (top row of oven functions, third from the left) rather than the "convection bake" pad (left-most pad on the top row of oven functions.) The choices are explained on pages 20 and 21 of the manual

If AJ Madison is your preferred vendor, a phone call may clear that up or at least get a price match to the likes of Home Depot and Lowe's (both of which are offering the $1499 price.).

I am going to look at the Sharp in the next couple of weeks. I do understand that it has conventional baking as an option. I will take the measurements of my cutout. I will go to an appliance store where I can see most of the big names and get educated answers (there is one in Lynhurst Ohio)....thank you everyone for steering me in the right direction. I am very disappointed in AJ Madison (but then , it is quite common now to have episodes of disappointment with formally outstanding retailers...guess I just have to expect it)....thank you all again.
