The baseboards extend wall to wall, but what about the windows? Is there stack back room for the draperies?

You can do a ceiling mount and put it any distance away from the baseboard that is needed.

There are also deep projection brackets that will a keep the rod/draperies out and away from the heating element.

Thanks for introducing me to stack back, Oncape. I just lost a few hours on youtube learning about it. I am still not sure how to measure for it when buying a rod if you don't know how how much width the curtain will need when pushed to the side.

A few french return rods I saw had a depth of 3", so that should accommodate 2.5" baseboard heating, right?

Show the window in your room, Measure the width including casing, measure the height same way, and measure the entire wall width

A rod like this usually will alow the drapes to hang properly in front of the rad . I had drapes in my old house with all hot water heat

I like that French return rod too, PCC, but it appears if they are long drapes and they are in front of hydronic wall-to-wall baseboards, the curved curtains tend to trap the heat.

I am attaching some photos - sorry for the lighting - to show these windows over a standard baseboard heater. They're small, so higher, wider drapes would enhance them I think.You can also see I have a vaulted ceiling, which I hope nice full drapes would tend to soften. I also attached a photo of this opening ("Juliet balcony"?) looking on to my living room, which makes window treatments pretty rough. I was thinking of a flat roman shade over that big window which I would keep raised most of the time (see photo #4) , and perhaps nice full drapes to match, something like the 5th photo?
