Yellow circles are probably table lamps and a floor lamp

I just saw this inspo photo on another thread and was intrigued, could a curved sofa work? Not this one though.

Also the room gets a ton of natural light and we will probably have some ceiling lighting, so I don't think we will need too many (or any) lamps.

Or maybe a small scale L- shaped sectional across the left wall and curving around to the fireplace? Placed closer to the window. Just to clarify, there is nothing along that left hand wall except windows, I don't know why the measurement lines are placed like that. Something like this but set up in the other direction? We currently have recliners and I would like to have those again, I probably should have mentioned that. This will be a lived in, casual room, and my style is pretty simple, not super contemporary (that first curved sofa is way too contemporary for me, it was just the idea of a curved sofa that intrigued me) but definitely not traditional. I would love to get some more feedback!

Lalagirl we definitely won't have ceiling lighting like that video! 😂 It would be softer and on dimmers for sure. But noted about the lamps, I'll keep it in mind.

May we have some pictures of the room from each wall? Are there bookcases on either side of the TV? Just wondering what the blackened areas are. Too bad you are removing the wall because it could be backing for another chair.

This is a rendition with suggestions for your consideration. Only the placement and type of furniture is being suggested, not the colors or style. This seating arrangement can seat 10 or more if you use the ottoman as extra seating. We push our ottoman in front of the fireplace when the extra seating is needed.

In this you see:

1. One 5 seater sofa

2. One large cushioned ottoman that can be used for storage and extra seating

3. One 84" TV with a 7' TV console

4. Side tables, no lamps per your earlier post regarding lighting

5. 5 small swivel chairs that can be turned or repositioned

Mae Day, the pictures I could show you now wouldn't be helpful because we haven't started the renovation yet. Here is what we are proposing to do on the tv wall (everything is just concept right now, and the built ins pictured would probably have a different combo of cabinets and shelves in that same general shape:

We will probably still have some kind of seating along the bottom wall, just “floating”.

Here is a picture from a neighbor’s house. She has the same layout I do and did exactly what I am trying to do. This is looking from the kitchen into the family room. Our kitchen will have a slightly different layout though. Also, her family room has a door in the middle of the long wall on the right so they had to put the tv above the fireplace. We are considering that also but my husband is dying for a giant tv so we may need to use the big wall. Anyway you can see that she still has seating parallel to the bottom wall.

It would be nice if you could keep the 15" wall solid (without the door) for the TV. That will allow you to place the furniture in a more open arrangement. Rather than having a couch to navigate around in order to get into the room. Just a thought. We had a similar arrangement with a couch that we had to walk around in order to sit down on the couch for any reason. It was cumbersome. Best wishes with your renovation.
