July Jewels in the Garden

last modified: 9 days ago

Yesterday marked one month of daylily bloom in my garden. I had several first flowers open this week, and also instant rebloom starting.

Electric Ladyland had its first bloom ever this morning. It was added in the fall. The color is deeper than my sun-drenched photo shows.

Kingdom Bound had its first bloom ever yesterday - also planted in the fall. It resembles parent Entwined in the Vine quite a bit. Even in this first year, it's showing some lateral branching.

Girl on Fire showed its first flowers ever last weekend. It is still growing in a pot.

Twitch ffe today - The color is very similar to Crazy Kate, which I have failed to get a good photo of so far. I don't know that I will keep both long term.

Chicago Girls and friends

Light of the World and Coco's Curiosity

Jeanne Deaver's Dream and Maui Sunrise

All American Chief had a couple of pretty poly blooms yesterday.

Believe in Angels grows so much better here than in Nashville.

Razor Sharp X Spacecoast Night Vision

Core Values X Bowtie Affair started reblooming yesterday. It has three instant rebloom scapes.

I really like the combo shots-especially the Chicago Girls and friends. Believe in Angels is pretty and appears to have many more bloms to come! Light of the World is blooming well. I am reminded that I have not posted Girl on Fire (can’t post them all!). It was planted last year but I can’t remember it blooming then.

Kate - Your Girl on Fire sure has dark, rich color. Very pretty! Mine didn't bloom until this year either.

Well, it is in partial shade!! One of those find a spot, dig a hole situations which will prompt a move sooner than later!!

Kate - I used to grow a lot in part shade. Somehow I never found sunnier spots for them.

Color intensity seems to be returning to your garden after bleaching hot temps. Of course, I like EL, and your Davissons are looking very good. Light of W has been beautiful this year. Twitch is taller here than CK. Kingdom is still pale from the heat.

I am an Electric Ladyland fan. Hope it likes your garden alot. Kingdom Bound also looks promising. Like that Razor Sharp seedling.

Still liking the Razor Sharp seedling. I like the dark color and the white edge in particular.....I thought Electric Ladyland was pink, but it's more of a coral.......I really like the shot of Chicago Girls and friends. So colorful and bright. Good work...............Maryl

Maryl - I think everyone has a different idea of what color Electric Ladyland is. The hybridizer registered it as rose red. It always looks some shade of pink to me in photos.

Mantis - Here Crazy Kate is taller than Twitch. We'll have to see what happens in future years. Yes, the color returned to my garden after a few days of cooler temperatures and some rain.

Sherry - I think both Electric L. and Kingdom Bound should do well in this climate.

Maryl and Sherry - Thanks for the comment on the Razor Sharp seedling. Its color was superb this week. It's multiplied extremely well here and has good height, but the bud count is lower than in Nashville.
