Hi, I'm struggling to figure out the best solution for aluminum hurricane French doors with fixed windows to each side. I currently have cassette type solar shades mounted directly to the doors that I don't particularly like because they look so bulky. I would like to have woven wood roman shades but after learning about them, they would cover 10 inches of the window when fully lifted (70" tall windows). Is this such a bad thing? I believe individual shades would allow for auto lift? Another positive of having them mounted to each door/fixed panel is that I can individually set them to different heights.

I understand that drilling into aluminum hurricane windows voids the warranty, but that ship has sailed and they are way out of warranty anyway.

Another idea is to have two motorized panels mounted to the wall above the casing that would cover each set of door/fixed window. The problem I have here is that I would have to open the shade each time I want to use the door, the nice window/door casing would be covered, and that I can't individually set the height of each door/fixed window.

Any ideas or suggestions to help me decide the right window treatment? Something that lies close the door and does not have a bulky head-rail. Not a fan of contemporary/modern or cellular shades. Which is better for my situation, door mount or wall mount? How about Velcro
