It’s hard to tell the rug size needed. With the furniture layout you have now. Have you tried the furniture arrangement with your tv where the sofa is currently. Unless you have to have it I’d find a new home for the brown chair and the checkered ottoman, because it’s a lot of furniture in that room.

I’m not sure if this layout will work without a detailed floor plan but it’s an idea you might consider if there is room.

I'd try spinning the existing rug the long way centered on the TV or get a larger rug so all the furniture pieces are ON the rug... at least the front legs of all the furniture pieces. Mount the TV ON the wall and remove the console. Use one coffee table and bring in all the furniture closer together Is that the best spot for the TV?

How about a phto from inside the room looking out? Do all the pieces recline? Maybe you don't need a coffee table if they recline and hit it when open.

You could do end tables where the pieces meet, add lamps Move the plant closer to a window so it looks natural.

yes so theres a built in white cupboard behind the the pink cushion chair, and that does not leave enough space for the sofa to be moved to the oppsite wall.

First impression is that there is too much furniture.

For instance, I think I see three smallish wood pieces lined up on the far wall. (One plant stand, a shelving unit under the tv, and another one that’s white.) Take them all away, and the long blue and white ottoman beside the coffee table too. Just because you HAVE the pieces, doesn’t mean that you should use them in this room. Put them in storage or another room or sell them. They’re contributing to your ”design nightmare” and ”going around in circles” in this room.

What was the supposed function of the built in white cabinet? It doesn't seem to belong and I would consider having it removed. I agree with others that there is a lot of furniture in a small room. But if TV viewing is the main function of the room, then those oversize reclining sofas are probably appreciated.

A lot of furniture in a small space do you really need it all? Not one piece of art to be had either . I think we need to see the whole room too to really help. BTW I do not think all furniture needs to sit on a rug in fact when I do Persian or antique rugs I never put the feet of the furniture on them only the coffee table .

You have reclining furniture that can't recline because the room is so tight. The pieces look clean and would sell quickly. My suggestion is to do it. "The main walkway between the living room and kitchen" should be left open. Your living room area is this space.

A sofa could go where the tv is now. I understand the white piece is a "built-in" (for what?).

You could find a sofa table the same height (cheap 'cause no one will see it) and size it to fill that wall. Sofa in front of it. Add two swivel chairs, because you will hang the t v on the wall on the opposite wall and the swivel will allow everyone to watch t v.

Using that wall for the t v will allow for the walkway, which is very important in your layout.

Oh, forgot, now you can keep the rug you have (add a pad).
