i don’t have that flooring but have seen lots of bath makeovers where the right wallpaper pulls the space together and makes the tile look purposeful

maybe something fresh with some yellow?

Would have to see the entire bathroom. What did you have in mind based on your budget, ie: accessories only and/or painting, lighting, mirror?

It’s a new house and this is an extra bath so I can take time to replace most of it. The shower/tub, sinks, and vanity I plan to replace. The mirrors and lights are cute but I might reuse them someplace else. I’m trying to not have to replace the floor and keep the darker stained door as is. The other door I can paint or stain to match. (Please forgive the mess. This bathroom hasn’t been used since we’ve moved and we know it needs to be fixed)

Given you will doing a major update down the road, white walls/shower curtain/towels will help refresh. Counter could be painted white using melamine paint (very durable) and if mirrors look off, paint white.

Accessories: decorate the toilet indent and suggest removing the toothbrush holder, repair wall and touch up.

Ooh that’s a nice sized bath with tons of potential - a lot depends on budget, if i had more budget I’d repace the counter and sinks, less budget I’d paint the vanity and add wallpaper

I would paint the walls and trim the same color as the background of the floor tile.

Change out the mirrors to a brushed brass (Goldtone)

and use Yellow towels and yellow and white striped shower curtain for a fresher look. Interior bathrooms without a window need to be light to avoid looking dingy. When you replace the countertop, leave off the curb backsplash and tile above the sinks half way up the wall.

then i would go ahead and replace the flooring unless you love it - that’s a pretty big redo so might as well upgrade the floor

I agree with la_la_girl - you're already 80% there - replace the floor too. It's holding you back. If it were plain white or something else easy to work with I could see keeping it, but it's too limiting in style and color. If you don't replace it you will remain stuck in the '70's.

Yeah I’m trying to do anything I can to not remove the tile. I’ve tackled projects like that in the past and have no interest to do it again

Are you planning on replacing the tub, vanity, etc. any time soon? If not, I don't see any sense spending money on anything more than a new shower curtain to work with the tiles and beige sinks and tub. Something like this might help everything blend together.

Here are some examples of how wallpapers may appear in your room. The floor tile is not yellow so much as gold when you place yellow wallpaper next to it.

I'd paint the colonial door white along with all the wood trim.

If you'll be replacing the yellow tile around the bathtub, the amount of yellow will be very small if it's only the floor tiles. I'd choose a vanity that is similar to the wood door colour, to avoid working with different wood tones. Then do your fixtures and counter in white.

Find a piece of wall art that has yellow and another colour you choose. Maybe a pale blue? Blue looks great with both yellow, and also with the warm brown tones of your door. Paint the wall in the blue.

Using a piece of art (or two) is the same idea as using wallpaper to set a colour scheme. But less expensive.

I like the tile.

I like the floor you have and partim's suggestions. If you go with a light paint, take a look at Navajo White. It has a very slight yellow undertone to it and might be similar to the background of the floor tiles. As Lyn mentioned, consider painting the wood trim the same color as the wall paint.

You are almost to a gut anyway so why live with dated tiles you really do not like. Removing tile is easy go rent a machine a bathroom takes less than an hour .
