Seeking opinions of Backsplash
I have spent hours trying to make a decision on this. Any help would be appreciated. We are finishing our remodel. I have Andino White granite that is busier than I anticipated. The backsplash shown in the pic is from our prior granite (similar, but lighter, with less pronounced graining).Not sure why, but I do not think gray tile looks good in this kitchen, so I ruled that out. I have narrowed it down to these choices:
- Plain white (but not stark white) Daltile 3x6 gloss subway tile with light warm gray grout.
- Zenith 2.25x9 gloss tile that leans gray, also with light warm gray grout.
- Zellige tile- Jeffrey Court 2.5x9.75 glossy tile in Cotton
Blossom. Unsure of grout color- either white or a very light gray.
I like the Daltile because I like contrasting grout lines and gray grout is easier to maintain than white grout. Also, I could possibly incorporate a herringbone mosaic like the former one, except in a darker marble that picks up the graining in the granite.I like the Zenith because I like the crisp edges so the grout lines will be neater. However, I prefer a wider tile. I am also not sure if Zenith tile would look too contemporary in my space.In regard to the Zellige tile, I think the color is a near-perfect match to the white in the granite. I like the size of the tile in this space. However, I am not a huge fan of the glossy Zellige tile with a busy granite because I think they tend to compete with each other. I am having a hard time picturing what it would look like with my granite. I also am unsure of the grout color for this tile.

Side note: We are going to have the wood floors refinished in a lighter brown stain (eliminating the red tone) with a satin finish.

What do you think about using the Zellige 2.5" x 9.75 in Cotton with the busy granite? BTW- the granite is a little busier in person than what you see in these pictures. If I go with that tile, what do you think about incorporating a mosaic like in this Parade of Home kitchen that has the same color of cabinets, island, and granite that I have?

a very light neutral gray grout. (gray will offer enough contrast for the tile lines, but will visually disappear when the eye looks at it)
white tile w/bright white grout. loos like a white sheet
if you really want 3x6, here it is w/a neutral gray. I do like this one paired w/the wood shelves and the more modern sconces. and the darker elements. not so farm house.
however, pick grout after install. take some leftover tiles and do a sample board w/neutral white and a soft gray. see what you like.jlcorp thanked Beth H. :
