I like much better as it is now.

IMO the navy is too dark, and the brown gables are incongruent with the rest of the navy and white color scheme.

Old Stucco siding painted a a dark color makes your home look small and dated, stucco in its natural state is a light natural textured finish.

If you love Navy, why not paint the front door Navy?

SW In the Navy is a great option to sample.

a soft SW Barcelona Beige for the body and SW Tea Leaf for the shutters would by colors to sample. I personally would not use the shutters, they are not the correct size for your windows.

You could paint the Gable SW Tea Leaf for an accent and white trims.

White Trim will make your windows look more prominent.

Agree with pork chop’s statement, not a fan of the navy. How about something like SW Evergreen Fog?. Cute house btw …. I would paint that white thing ( whatever it is ) on the roof a color similar to your roof color, black address #s mounted vertically & a larger lantern, black? mounted above entry. Just random thoughts, I’m sure someone will address your shutters.

Very cute house! I’d definitely consider a lighter color like you have now. The suggestion of Evergreen Fog or another sage green could be nice with a navy door and soft white trim. You might look at SW Oyster Bay for a very light sage green. These are both Oyster Bay.

Or, maybe something like this soft combination with the Dutch Tile Blue door.

I don’t think the navy does justice to your home. I would remove the shutters and do a lighter color.

It’s not navy, but here’s a blue to consider.

I'd vote for Emily's cream, with only the gables and door a contrasting color. (Nice plantings, by the way!)

Just chiming in again. I really like chloebud’s suggestion. For some reason, idk why, I don’t care for blue on your house. Lighter, softer colors look better.

I like the baby cream for the siding and clay for the trim and front door. You could do the cloud cover for the gable siding to work with the white windows.

I love Emily's cream rendering. It really evokes the cottage style you describe your house as being and works so well with your lovely landscaping.

I'm more drawn to a soft green than the cream. This is what Oyster Bay looks like but I'm wanting a bit more pop - any suggestions for a door colour?

Also the reason I'm wanting cedar shakes is to cover up some cheap plywood currently in the dormers, not stucco . Is there any way I could make cedar shakes work there? Maybe something like this? (the paint colour is Evergreen Fog, which someone else suggested here!)

I suspect the navy will fade. In your mockup, the brown of the shingles doesn't quite go with the brown of the roof. The shutters are poorly sized for the windows, I'd remove them. I like Emily's lighter blue. But, realistically, as your house is currently a pretty dreary shade of gray, any color will be an improvement. I also like the cream.

If you really want the cedar shingles (I don’t like the cheap siding look either), then START with the shingles and choose your other colors to go with them. Cream might be a possibility.

Could you cedar shingle the roof too?

Toss the shutters for sure.

And, like others have mentioned, spray paint that tall exhaust pipe to match the roof. It’s SOOO prominent right at the front of your house.

I see now that the house has the sold plywood siding that needs covering up. Do you like this look with vertical siding? Ignore what AI did with the vertical siding on the right side.

great advice on the thread! Just a plug for matte paint for when you’re ready for the painting - a house in my neighborhood painted their stucco navy blue and the paint has a lot of sheen to it, and cheapens the look of the house imo

The vertical siding in Emily's rendition might be a nice solution. You can paint it the same color as the house so it doesn't pull the house down as much.

Your house is small and cute. you dont want to bring in too many materials and colors especially dont want dark color as house will look even smaller and dull. paint it a fresh light color. Emily’s rendition with vertical siding in place of the plywood. the saybrook sage will look lovely. with the saybrook sage, you can paint your door navy, dark red, burnt orange, brown, black…. so many colors will match. if it were me Id give the door a pop of color for statement. get rid of shutters.

Wow, I am so glad I came here for all this great advice! Emily, love the idea of vertical siding in the same colour as the rest of the house, instead of cedar shakes. Dumb question: what material should the vertical siding be?

Also the Saybrook Sage is so pretty - what colour of trim is it?

And thanks for all the other great advice, too - ditching the shutters, new larger black light over entryway, address in black done vertically etc.

Sara, this is one option for Saybrook Sage. Blue door with it is nice, or also with Evergreen Fog.

Certainteed has a vinyl vertical board and Barton siding in the color Cypress that you may want to check out.
