How pretty! Such a cheery shade of yellow.

It looks like it could work perfectly in a planter.

There are so many wonderful heliopsis and I have tried several previously but everyone of my 'tries' has invariably become infested with aphids :( and so I stick with helianthus for "cheery shades of yellow".

Claudia, indeed 'Athena Gold' certainly is a happy cheerful perennial!

Rouge, red aphids truly are nasty things, never saw such an aphid that can so quickly cover the stems from top to bottom and how they all sway in defiant unison, really are gross creatures ... and talk about persistent, though so am I and out comes the backpack sprayer with soapy water. I have though begun to limit the number of heliopsis volunteers about the place, thus easier to maintain the aphid in check ... but, just seems with each and every passing year, yet more pests and diseases come calling and sometimes one just needs to stop growing a certain species for it all!

Those are a beautiful golden-yellow!

I have "Tuscan Sun" and it's a heavy bloomer, pretty much same golden-yellow color. How do you think the "Athena Gold" differs from "Tuscan Sun"

Heliopsis ATHENA GOLD™ Height: 18-24 inches / Spread: 16-20 inches

Hmmm....my "Tuscan Sun" does not get that tall. It's only knee-height, if that (I'm only 5'5", my knee height is about 176").

I had several TS years back. An absolute bloom machine....with aphids ;)

Porkchop, 'Tuscan Sun' can rather vary in height, guess much depends on soil fertility, moisture and root competition ... in my conditions, most perennials tend to grow on the larger side.

Rouge, yes, it sure is a very cute one, though dang for those awful large red aphids!

It clearly is a bloom machine.

Awesome, now for those nasty large red aphids that are sure to find it, they're easy to control with just a bit of soapy water, repeat when necessary.

All good as I can "guard" one heliopsis from aphids ;).

The first few blooms of heliopsis 'Rays For Days' ... I like the direction breeding is taking heliopsis with these much more compact selections.
