LOL I am sympathetic but I go flat vs frizzy in humid weather

I am at the point where every day I’m considering going pixie short again. I have a hair appt in one week…

This reminds me of the episode on Friends…… Monica in the Bahamas! Which is me during the summer months or vacationing in warm climates🤪 no need to bring a blow dryer or flat iron, just a waste of time.

Hair day? More like "summer hair" for me. My hair goes flat as soon as I walk out the door all summer. Fall cannot come soon enough!

I have very fine, straight hair. It’s flat no matter the weather!

My hair gets flat and frizzy at the same time. Ever since The Great Hair Loss a few years ago, my hair no longer has the weight to hold it diwn, so it gets very straight but the ends are frizzy.

I recently had lunch with a friend whose hair is beautufully natural gray and I am now tempted to let mine go gray and get the same pixie cut as Sue. Im tired of fighting with it.

I feel as if I have ’bed head’ all day when it is so hot and humid. Flat as a pancake.

I have very fine, highly porous naturally curly hair. In low humidity I have options and can make it look ok. My best hair days all involve the desert Southwest, and yet I live in the fetid swamp of NY. 😄 August is "give up all attempts at controlling it, headband and messy bun" season.

I've just given up on trying to "control" my hair anymore. It's similar to getting a toddler to eat green beans. Ain't happening!

@Kitchenwitch111, that is why I hate visiting family/friends on the east coast of FL!

So much humid ocean wind, all the time, 24/7. On the west coast of FL I only have to deal with humidity. Sometimes we have windy spells from the Gulf, but nothing like those constant Atlantic winds.

sigh.... I get it, we all have our issues, the grass is always greener and all that.... but I'd love the chance to deal wtih hair that goes flat with humidity, just for a change because in my mind at least, I could find cute ways to pin it up.

But that would also require the right cut and at the moment I am dealing with what I think is the worst cut I've EVER had and considering how many cuts I've had in my life, that's saying something. Had a consult with one stylist who recommended I wait a few weeks and let certain sections grow out a bit before she does a correction cut. I want to blow Edith Ann raspberries to the guy who cut this mess.

DLM, I hear you sister! I have had people say they'd love to have curly hair. I have to suppress a desire to scream NO at them. 😆 Trust me, you want nothing to do with the stress highly porous curly hair brings into your life. Giant PITA.

Your choice is stringy, lank hair that looks witchy, mine. Today it is 91*, 74% humidity, and a heat index of 105*.

I would love a short cut a la Jamie Lee Curtis. But in the humidity in NC, I would look like a poodle straight from the groomer. Or, with the sorta-gray, think Brillo pad.

@aok27502 - NC here, too.With a short cut I'd look worse than a brillow pad poodle since I lack the kind of bone structure JLC has!

Since I was about 15 I would say - in my next life, I'm not going to need glasses and I will have straight hair.

I did have lasik some 25 plus years ago. I used to straighten, wrap, you name it my hair to make it straight. Then I embraced the curls. The Curls are only a sometime thing because they get wild and crazy and not in a good way.

So I still have my order in for my next life with straight hair.

My hair gets super frizzy at the drop of a hat - it's funny because when I was younger, it was super straight and I hated it - I used to set it with braids and twists it to make it wavy and fluffy 😏

I have noticed big fluffy hair is coming back too. I was all set in the 1980s, my photos from back then are all just hair...lots of curly big frizzy hair overpowering everything else about me. I don't know if I can embrace it again. It is SO MUCH HAIR! 😆

I would trade a kidney for hair that doesn't poof up in humidity! 🤣

One word...Keratin. Expensive, but less than trading a kidney, and it removes frizz. Downside is that if you have fine frizzy hair, it can go flat, especially the first week or so. I have it done every summer. Life changing.

Diana I had keratin straightening treatments for years and it certainly did away with frizz. My hair used to be very thick but has thinned somewhat over time (thanks menopause) so I try to be kinder to it.

Speaking of big fluffy hair -- a friend just sent me this photo of me at a NYC party around 1990. It must have been a very humid day!

I can top that kitchenwitch. 😆 I need to dig through old photos bc my best/worst hair photos predate electronic copies....
