Look for sofa brands that offer Performance, Crypton or Indoor/outdoor fabric options.

Also look for, or ask about, the wear rating on the fabrics. It should be listed as Wyzenbeek double rubs and for upholstery pieces I like a rating of 50,000 or more.

You're sticking to your leather becasue its not good leather. You have entry-level finished (Painted) leather, natural hides (Aniline) won't stick, or even premium finished leather. Topcoats make all the difference on hides.

You liked the Chenille becasue that's a cotton / yarn blend, and the cotton is comfortable.. Go most on natural materials (cotton, linen, wool) and less on man-made one for softness and comfort. All man-mades tend to have a more scratchy feel and all will pill.

Don't get hung up too much on material thickness, the thicker the fabric the less a piece tailors well. While rub ratings are good to have as data points, the higher the rub rating, the more commerical and utility-like the fabric will feel. Here's a tip I used to tell all my clients, when selecting fabrics, hold the sample up to your cheek to determine the hand, softness and feel. Your cheek is very sensative to that, running it through your fingers - not so much.
