I am finally getting around to updating my bedroom drapes. I hope to keep my grey linen roman blackout blinds. The head board and lampshades are grey aswell. I am using twopages and trying to choose from a cream, natural or grey linen. I will use brass rods and rings. here are AI mockups. After choosing drapes I will be making rad cushions too.

Changing the blinds might be needed lol cause i like the cream too. It is a very plain room but i like simple rooms for sleeping.

My husband likes the monochromatic look of two. I lean to natural linen or cream. AI likes oatmeals and creams best.

I agree with your DH the blinds and drapes look good in a cohesive color. Is the stripe on the Duvet cover also a charcoal grey? It is a pretty room and I love a serene setting for sleep. My bedroom walls are about the same color as yours .c

With the gray shades I like the drapes also in gray.

The stripe is charcoal and the bathroom tile is a grey herringbone so lots of blue and grey.

I like the cream a lot.

I don't love the cream drapes and gray blinds together.

I also don't love the gray blinds with the blue wall color.

For me, something has to go, and my gut reaction is the gray blinds.

Unless you love the gray blinds ... don't keep throwing money into that design scheme.

I feel almost like I am moving at MTNR speed! I found Twopages on amazon and ordered a ready made grey and a ivory/white set, attached hooks and rings and steamed a pair of each color and hung them. My DH still likes the more monochromatic but I am leaning to the ivory and changing the blinds. pardon the tools and steamer still playing with pleats. My room has numerous window hanging obstacles. Do non AI pictures help when picking which way to go?

What color does the rug read irl? To me, that might be the deciding factor. I like the more monchromatic gray but I like the creme also if the rug reads more creme/beige. Do you change bedding often, The creme would be more versatile if you do. ( as you know but just a reminder if you are needing another nudge to go with them!)

Rug is light grey and I will be keeping it only until my cats pass away. They destroy rugs and are older so I waiting to invest a nicer rug. I have a weird thing about bed linens. I only sleep well in white bedding not even sure why but it is an idiosyncrasy of mine. So although I do change bedding it is just to a solid white duvet.

I'm not usually a fan of gray but I like the gray color that you picked. It's a clean gray and not muddy and the gray panels look good with the gray blinds, gray rug and the blue walls. I don't think the cream and gray play as nice together.

My house is mostly greys, blues and greens. I like a beach on a grey day and in the end of the 90‘s started using those colors before the 2010 craze. I might slowly replace the wall paint but my furniture, window treatments, lampshades and rugs are in ok shape so working with these colors makes me feel environmentally and economically less wasteful.

I think I've got to go with the gray unless you would consider trying white??

After seeing the real drapes with the blinds and wall I am with @Arapaho-Rd. Given the trim color I don’t care for that shade of cream even if you get cream blinds and I really don’t like the gray blinds and drapes with the blue.

I would go all white new blinds and drapes and then do something wonderful for a rug when you make that purchase.

Or the easiest would be paint. Something that goes better with the gray. And then keep the blinds and gray drapes. That is the very least expensive choice. 🙏

You have a pretty room! I've always liked those wool rugs - however, I wasn't sure how well one would wear. Does it continue to shed a lot?

I'm not a huge fan of the monochromatic gray shades/drapes + the blue walls.

Here is the room using the cream color drapes - I've added some other cream elements into the room:

Here is the room with changing the wall color:

Lastly, here is the room with replacing the gray shades + using white for shades and drapes:

While I know that you only like to sleep in white bedding - I did add a linen pillow in a dark indigo color under your white shams. I have a beautiful linen dark indigo duvet set that is yarn dyed = has a chambray look to it (white and indigo yarns). The texture is really nice. It looks almost like a charcoal chambray until some blue is added around it.

Below is .a linen quilt - I have both a linen duvet set in the dark indigo + a set in the white linen with indigo stripes (my SO and I use different duvets at night because I can't share = I have quite a few linen duvet sets that can be mixed together). I also use the striped one with a white linen duvet at times (one of the duvets is folded into thirds at the foot of the bed).

HOWEVER - I am not sure of the exact blue color on the walls. Do you know the exact color of blue paint on your walls?

Not what you want to hear, but I don't think either choice really works that well. However, I'm a pattern girlie so I would be looking for a pattern that has all of your colors included in it. I know you want to keep it serene so I wouldn't choose an overly exuberant pattern.

i will try white it is what i have in the other bedrooms and hallway was looking for something else. i like the cream accents in Dani’s picture. i also like the cream walls.

I think any of the drapes do or could even look better if you just pull in some of the same color tones and texture. Add a blanket or two that pick up on the color tone of the drapes and maybe add art in place of the mirror to give a nod to both gray and creamy beige. Little changes that would tie whatever you like together. You have a beautiful room! Excuse my old school powerpoint mockup.

Why do you even need drapes? They don't really add any interest, and I don't care for how they hang with the radiators. Shades alone look fine, and you could chage the color if you don't like the gray.

Dani, the rug is frayed and still sheds from the cats but is very easy to keep clean. If a cat hairballs I just pick it up and put ice cubes on it the blot it is stain free!

@dani_m08 her white scenario is the best so far. The disconnect with shades/ drapes doesn’t work , for me. They need to be the same IMHO.

Or as @Eileen says why drapes? I have drapes only in our bedroom every other room in the house up and down has custom paper roller shades. They are the last order the gal in Oregon filled before she became ill.

I think you will do as we ALL do.. pick what suits you after getting insight from others. It is helpful to hear opinions but the final reckoning is what you like. c

I have had just blinds and could go back . I think the white looks good but it is in every other window upstairs and thought maybe I could branch out, lol. In real life I like either drape color and blinds in the room better than I liked just the blinds though. I am browsing some pattern ideas too. I might also try shorter old fashion drapes that clear the radiators better.

    Thanks!

Blue walls can be a tricky color to pair with anything other than true white. It doesn’t look quite right above curtains in cream or gray or blue. I think the white curtains and shades as in someone’s mockup above. Barring new shades I would repaint the room.

I moved forward with the grey curtains and tried to lean into Beth’s Parisian apartment imagery, lol. I made grey linen seat cushions with fabric from another project and I purchased a more ornate larger mirror. I am keeping the ivory curtains and am ordering complimentary blinds for those to possibly swap out seasonally or all together as well. I am researching other paint options and need to aquire some new art and lamps. The bed wall is presently a bit coastal with wicker lamps that I will swap out once I find replacements I like. Although the bed wall and window wall look different colors they are not. I am at work so the left picture is an older evening shot and right was taken during a late morning this week.

would love lamp, art, paint and accessory help. Thanks

What is the name of the paint color on the walls? It looks much more gray in the new photos in your latest comment (especially the first one). I like the gray curtains more in the new photos.

Also, thanks for the info re: the rug. I really have wanted a similar one for awhile (not gray - but same type of rug). I've been hesitant due to some concerns people have had - however, I think I'm going to get it! It's for a guest room that I use for sleep overs for my grandson (granddaughter has a different room). He only sleeps in there sometime = not much use. Thanks!

The BM imperial grey paint must definitely be a chameleon - it does look different in your several photos. I wouldn't have guessed this is the color:

It looks so different in all the images I saw!

    F&B Cornforth White:

I'm not sure what happened with the sconces in the above rendering.

I feel like the Cornforth White might be a little off in the below rendering: Also - the medallion on the ceiling and light fixture has a pink to them for some odd reason (this is one reason why AI will never take the place of real interior designers!) I just wanted to try a different light fixture and medallion - the medallion isn't the correct look + the light fixture is the same - just with a pinkish hue.

Many Parisian apartments use a chalky white paint on the walls (ceilings/trim/etc.) - the room below has Farrow & Ball All White on the walls/ceiling/trim/baseboards/etc.

I tried to add a horizontal piece of art for over the bed - however, I keep receiving "errors" - I also wanted to add something on the wall to the left of the bed - again, received "error" message.

I love the chalky white with picture moldings. My dining room has this look right now but will soon be papered in November. when i try AI today it has been tempermental. I am looking at a few putty colors too.

I really like the chalky white also. I actually looked at a few other paint colors, but you had mentioned the silvery paint colors = I wanted to try to find a color that followed your thoughts. A couple of the colors I looked at are putty colors also (in addition to a few other colors).
