Im going to replace the wreath with a brighter white one once i find one.

the current column and garage trim color is high reflective white in semi gloss. its glaring against the south facing sun. Im thinking of changing to pure white in satin to ease some of the harshness. other color suggestions welcome.

i cannot beef up the columns as they rest right on the edge of the porch. will be relacing the roof within the next few years

Paint the glaring white columns and garage door the same color as the siding. They will still stand out, but in a good way.

Of course you can beef up the columns (which would improve their appearance). Just add the extra ”beef” to the sides and house-side of the columns. Or, mount matching columns so that all your columns are doubles. A competent carpenter can easily do either one.

And don’t paint them white. White makes them jump out, in a not so attractive way.

If you remove the shutters, you will want to add beefed-up trim around the windows.

I like the roof color, it goes with the brick better than the siding. I think the shutters work well on your house, but the color is pretty dull. I find it hard to figure out what color your siding is and if I tried, I could be wrong, but I think a sage green might work. Ideally, I'd keep the roof, paint the siding a cream that goes with your brick, and paint the shutters a warm sagey green.

If you like the look of shutters I would replace them with new ones about twice the width. The current ones are clearly not "real" as they are far too narrow to cover the window if closed.

Shutters gone, gone, gone. The house is a raised ranch; it is not a Colonial.
