Taj Mahal vs. Crystallo Cove - Which Is More Timeless?

Help me choose! I’m torn between Taj Mahal quartz and Crystallo Cove quartz for my countertops and backsplash.

My fabricator says we’re at the end of the Taj Mahal trend and the beginning of the Crystallo trend. Even though everyone seems to be doing Taj Mahal right now, that doesn’t really bother me- I’ve had granite for years and have never had quartz. First 3 photos of Crystallo and rest Taj bagel with

I want something classy, upscale and timeless that I won’t get tired of. Which one do you think will age better? And does Crystallo’s veining look too dramatic or trendy, especially for both the countertop and backsplash?

    Taj Mahal

What do you like better? It’s your kitchen and you’re the one that’s going to have to look at it on a daily basis.

Exactly. It’s your kitchen. Why should the opinions of strangers on the internet affect your decision? Especially as you haven’t shown the kitchen. Context is important.

Personally, Taj Mahal has become so ubiquitous, and boring.

You have to decide…do you want your kitchen to have personality, or do you prefer the safety of a several year trend?

I would do a layout for your countertops and backsplash with the crystallo and taj mahal. It will give you the best idea of what impact the crystallo veins will have. I think the crystallo may make a beautiful and distinctive backspash in particular but it will depend of on how you lay it out.

Agree to do what you want - simple does tend to age well if that is a priority for you

fwiw we put in madre perla quartzite 15 years ago when we reno’d (cousin to taj) white cabs the same color as the trim, paneled appliances and continued the hardwood floor - i really worked to limit the number of different materials and make sure the kitchen fit the home, everything is pretty quiet/understated on its own but the upside is nothing has really dated , which was my preference (to each their own)

“Too dramatic” is in the eye of the beholder, and also depends on the style of the home.

I don’t worry about trends (although I’m probably influenced by them because of what I see regularly.) You’re likely/hopefully going to have this stone for a long time, so I’d be more concerned about durability. Taj is well known for being durable and some other light quartzites have had issues with staining from water and sealants. So whichever you choose, be sure to test first. And ask your fabricator how he/she prevents staining.
