You need to take the roof into consideration -- the roof and the siding and trim need to work together as a cohesive whole.

My advice would be to replace teh roof first. Looking at teh photo, it looks like it's time. Might be a simple re-shingle job, but that's something you'd have to look in to.

If you replace the roof, choose a general color direction and go from there -- endless possibilities. But remember -- it all needs to work together as a whole.

My cedar-shingled house is over 100 years old. Many of the shingles are original. When we got it painted, the painter replaced the shingles that needed replacing. That's probably cheaper than residing the whole thing. I'd look pretty hard at your shingles and see if they really do need replacing.
