Is the glass backsplash in this kitchen outdated?

Just wondering if the glass tile on this backsplash is outdated? It has always reflected green to me versus grey, so just wondering if outdated time to replace it. Thank you

From your photo, it’s the small, high-contrast mosaic and its gray-green cast—not glass tile by itself—that give the backsplash a more dated feel next to the simple white cabinets and large, pale countertop. If the green bothers you in person, that is a good enough reason to change it; I wouldn’t replace it solely because of a trend. Before committing to demolition, look at it in daylight and after dark with the under-cabinet lights on, since the reflection may shift with the lighting. Then hold a few actual tile samples against the counter and floor. A larger-format, quieter tile in a soft white or warm gray could let the cabinets and countertop lead, but I’d choose the final undertone from samples in your kitchen rather than a screen image.

That mosaic is considered dated. Just because something is dated doesn't mean you can't like it so the more important factor is if you don't like it then replace it.

So much sad gray in this photo ... a good enough reason to change the backsplash!

I haven't seen that small mosaic used in a while, so it might be a little dated, yet still pretty. On the positive side, it makes a great backdrop for some really colorful accessories. What's your favorite color, or the main color of your existing kitchen cannisters, pots or accessories? I'm imagining how nice a bright yellow, red, or blue toaster, dutch oven on the stovetop, and cachepot might look. It's a very nice neutral kitchen to work with just as it is.

I seriously thought this was a black and white photo. You need some color in that kitchen.

To me what looks dated is all the gray.

I'm enough of a hippie that I hate to see perfectly good things get thrown away. If you can't stand the tile, then get rid of it, but please do not throw it away and replace it just because it might be out of style. That seems incredibly wasteful to me.

You really need some color in that room!

I'm with the "add more color" crowd. There must be SOME color that you like? Whatever it is, add it in the form of stools, dishtowels, ceramic pieces (vase/pitcher), salt and pepper shakers, a colorful caddy to replace the SS one you have, a green plant in a colorful pot, tea kettle, lamp, placemats, rug.

And yes, the glass tiles have gone out of fashion quite a few years ago. If you are going to replace them, choose a real COLOR!
