This furniture placement is breaking up the room and taking away from the fireplace which is usually a focal point. If that TV is to big for the living area try using a spare bedroom if you have one.

Out a 8x10 area rug in color. In front of TV, push chairs into room closer to TV. Get a 3 rd chair. Place together. That ca be yr media room. Then in living room get a L shape with left side return. 3 seater. Not to bulky, and not black, or brown. If going leather go a dove gray, with chrome legs. Low and sleek. No TV over Firepl. Instead a. Nice big art in bold colors contemporary. Area rug in a silver shag. A ottoman square 36" or a glass coffee table square. Take a pic from black chairs into room.

Room is traditional, go a L shape 3 seater but in a fabric, a cream and add accent color pillows. Love wall color. On area rugs go a traditional design with reds, creams etc. both rooms. A big 45" sunburst mirror over fire place. A big palm next to firepl by media room. Just a few mercury glass pots on selves, mixed with accent color. Dark wood square 36" coffee table.put a big basket fill with plants tall. It would be nice to hang panels on each end of opening to media. Just to give it a separate room look. Go a gray taupe, velvet. hang 2 on each side. Brings separation in.

Go roman shades on window in media. Wall color, with a small cream print.

A palm in corner by window ant TV. Or some tall plant. TJMax, has them.

Put logs in a big tall basket by firepl. Add logs to firepl.

Anther palm in corner by front windows and FP. Accent color try teal.

I believe you need a separate media room and leave these two rooms as a living/dining room. The furniture you have is too modern and not right for the room. Are you planning to buy new furniture? If so, try to go light and sophisticated and match the style of the room. Hope you like as you did not preference your color options.

Looks like you are using two rooms as one room, which looks a little off. Looks like your fireplace room is a little larger so that might be the way to go.

This "living room" actually looks like a living/dining combination, as evidenced by the chandelier in your TV area. I'm sure those chairs are very comfortable for watcing TV, but they overwhelm your space. A sectional would tend to overwhelm, as well. Consider space available when choosing furniture, otherwise it might look like wall-to-wall furniture, and you want a little "space in your togetherness!"

The 2 chairs that are in that room are temporary until we can figure out what to do with the 2 rooms.

This looks so confusing... but Travisinteriors makes it sound easy and really great design. Good design layout travisinteriors!

Post some pictures of the sectional you are interested in and see what the response is.

You have two rooms, so they should be treated as living room as one and dining room as the other. Trying to use both as one will not work.
