Design/Build firm recommendations

Hello, we are looking to do a addition/remodel of our home in Silverlake to give our three children their own bedrooms and resolve some flow issues in the house. The main part of the house is a 1928 Spanish, with some additions done to the back of the house over the years (currently 1750 sqft). We are looking for recommendations for design/build firms that can and want to take on this project, and who will do a god job while adhering to budgets and schedules.

Try the FIND LOCAL PROS search function here on Houzz and see if there are any design/build firms in your region. That will give you a start to begin your research on the individual firms. Another good option where you'll likely find excellent design/build firms is the professional search tool from NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry):

You can go to NAHB.org and they have a find a remodeler toolon their website in order to locate someone in your area.

Before you hire anyone, make sure you talk to several recent and past clients. Always ask for more than the initial references given (the first ones are always the best).

Also, if you are contracting a design/build be sure you have a "escape clause" written into the contract just in case the design portion does not live up to your standards.
