A Rococo to go ~ Hold the Drama...

bellesum suggested I start a new thread as a result of all the drama from https://www.houzz.com/discussions/what-do-i-do-with-this-gaudy-rococo-bedroom-set-help-dsvw-vd~610717 ... Brilliant idea...

Ali, Tasha Tudor's books (and drawings) were romanticized views of childhood and country living, don't you think? I did enjoy reading her books to my children and we so enjoyed her art illustrations. Did not know all the info about her private life. So sad.

nwduck...Yes we have a stalker (IMHO), I am convinced. 1st time I thought glitch, second time I wasn't so sure especially right after a few rude comments were made by some visitors and this time I'm convinced it was just a mean spirited lost soul.

edithsmom...her name was mentioned on a blog I read so I looked her up and became fascinated with her story. Her one daughter called a two-faced b****. Apparently she lives in a trailer park and is on food stamps. She sold one book that her mother gave her that was never published and she became furious about it. As to what the other kids did or didn't do to make her mad I don't know. The one son who was cut out said he was never estranged from her and said his brother (that got everything) planned it all out long before she died and had her change the will. Whew...talk about messy.
Ironclad wills are essential, to save the lawyers getting most of your hard earned.
Spencer could open a new thread without keywords such as rococo and gaudy in it. Put it under "other".
*sob* But just think, chook, of all the *history* in the original thread! A historian would just want to curl up and wither away at the thought of all the lost.....um, unique glimpse into so many lives.
Let them restore this one and start a new one under other.
Tasha Tudor: We have a few books illustrated by her, and I mostly enjoy her illustrations. It is too bad that her family is so contentious with one another. Her choices may seem extreme, but have you ever read about Bronson Alcott, Louisa May Alcott's father? He was one strange person with very strange ideas. I cannot imagine being married to someone like him and allowing my children to be subjected to the deprivation and strangeness that were part of their family.
Well the kids contested Ms. Tudor's will and although they fought against they're afraid there won't be any money left by the time the lawyers are done taking their fair share. And the lawyers are rolling their eyes at the adult children. They're arguing over 140 bucks for lawn mowing expenses.
Life is too short and my family (families)--both my first (childhood) and my second (husband and kids and grandkids)--are too precious to allow stuff to come between us. The lawyers are fine with the kids arguing--puts more money in their bank account while the clock ticks away.
marjie...sounds like a good read and I'll research him. Was he as bazaar as Ms. Tudor?

She was immortalized in Japan where she had a second home.

Chook, Ali and all, just so you know there is no such thing as a "iron clad" will. You can plan all your life and rewrite until you turn blue. But, all it takes is one evil minded child, friend, or caretaker to use undue influence when you are sick, weak and vulnerable to cancel that iron clad will.

Like in this case, her son undid her wishes in the end and influenced her against his siblings. Probably he was the one who did the least for her. This is a story repeated around the globe more times than not. How could lawyers not be involved. If the inherited son wanted peace in his family he would have done the right thing by simply dividing the money equally amoung his siblings regardless of her last will.

Yes he should have. We have similar thing here with Mining Magnate Gina Reinhardt and her kids warring over a family trust. Only one kid came out on Ginas side, according to the media. She is a good one to look up.
Last I read the judge was going to bring in an old dear friend of hers to shed some new light on the situation. I'll have to go see if there is an update. Be back...
It was settled at the last minute out of court. Ain't nooobody talkin. The three siblings were pitted against the one because they felt the will was changed because of his influence on her as he was living with her. Hmmm...

Chook...that looks like a good read also. Goody, goody I have two things I can go look up.

    Thanks ladies.

Hookie yesterday afternoon.... dang we thought this jeep was bigger... maybe we shouldn't have cancelled the rental truck...
Trying to sort as she loaded....
Where are the rest of the cigar boxes?
Lowe's run for a larger ice chest last night they shouldn't have put that Patio furniture at the entrance...

This morning we are packing up the last few things and waiting on the sun to give us enough light that we can load up our boards, rug for the tent, copper grounding rods, suitcase, etc and then we're headed out....

More pics when I get up the hill...

Hey Chook.... Thanks! I had every intention of getting up at 3 AM but couldn't open my eyes dag-nabbit... It's 9 hours up to the house I rented at the base of the mountain...

So much to do but needed a half hour coffee and to check in with my peeps before I get in the shower, finish loading and I swear I can't find the twine I bought... Need that twine to hang my color washed boards that we'll finish up there! Ladder! Cripes, forgot to load the ladder... need two... will dig them out and strap them to the luggage rack too!

We are going to stop in the last town up and hit smart and final and pick up groceries which Hookie is adamant that we can't pack in the porta potty trailer but I'm thinking it's excellent storage for soda's and stuff! LOL

Will upload more when we hit the road... Looks like our thread disappeared again, we had another stranger report us for not painting it black? I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread... will try to read on the way up cause Hookie won't let me drive... she says I drive Braille... I think she's talking about those white things on the freeway that are noisy when you run over them...
Spence, you can't put groceries in a toilet! Ali, it's just slow with the notifications.
    Hookie funnie.
Just popped back in and see much drama has occurred with thread availability. I still had this old one bookmarked so actually both can be accessed. Good luck spencer on your trip up the hill!
And Happy belated Anniversary to you, LB! Agree with others that hubby must have married jailbait. Nice to see those golden anniversaries aren't a thing of the past. We must be coming up on an anniversary ourselves with this thread. When did spencer first post dilemma? I wish you could save your comment to look back at the thread; maybe I'll have to suggest that to houzz. Especially when posting pics or links.
I can't get the old thread on the website.
*sigh* Me too, chook. (Or is it me, neither?) Whatever.....you know what I mean.
Groceries in a toilet. Yikes. That would be enough to kill the appetite, now.
spencer, have a fun and safe trip!!! Cannot wait to see those Yurts.
Okay, gang, has Emmeline Westin been emailed?

Yikes, think it is the same person every time? That is pure meanness.
Safe journey, Spencer. You must be dragging after just doing the Club 149 thing. Or else your adrenaline supply is of superhuman quantity.

Just sent Emmeline an email and asked her for suggestions to avoid this issue. It's 5:00pm there now, so ...

And ... spencer's car looks a leetle bit full!

Emmeline Westin just wrote back. Sent a very nice note saying she will investigate and also, try (can't promise) to find out if it is the same user every time.

Seems odd to me that a 'stalker(s)' only target is spencer's original dilemma?

Maybe we should start a Rococonuts Investigation Agency?
Emmeline Westin fixed it! Yippee! She said she thinks it will not go into the Moderation Mode again. I like her writing but do not know her. Still, this is not her job, yet she went the extra mile. We luv us some Emmeline.

Thanks Cindy for the Anniv. compliment. Hubby's humor and craziness keeps us both young. He's a great guy. I just love him to pieces!

LB, we love you to pieces.
    We love crazy.
I love my hubby to pieces. Cannot imagine what I would do without the laughter.

Repeating? He always says after he arrives home from the office, "Would it be okay if I got both feet inside the door before you tell me about your day?"

    I like your hubby.
    Smiles.

Hmmmm the "Paint it Black" theory. I'm on it! Love a good research topic. LOL

Spencer--wishing you and hookie GOOD LUCK going up the mountain with the overloaded jeep. It scares me how much weight you must have added to that thing!

AWWWWWWWWW Moggie. Thank you! Made my day. I'm procrastinating to clean house for company tonight. I think I'll become the white tornado soon!
Hope you remembered to just hit the high points and hide the rest, LB. Enjoy a special visit with your sister. That's what matters. :-))

Just an update to all my peeps we have made it to the other side of smoggy Los Angeles...

Who he pulled over on the way out of town and jumped into a movie theater and dammit she didn't walk out with for movie posters!
Then we stopped and picked up our trailer about an hour north!

Then we have to stop at Walmart because the little trailer were towing behind us did not have any break lights!
When we swung into Walmart we thought we had the right brake light magnetic harness thingy.
We did so we pulled into auto parts store bought a utility knife and cut the son of a gun and Hookie got a connected!

We are four hours from the cabin one of the guys just got their two of his guys are behind him two more behind them and many more coming tonight all my God you should see the traffic LB how the hell do you live in this area?

LB put lower wattage in the lamps and light fixtures and you will be fine. Then they won't see it. Hair blower works wonders for a quick dust job -- be sure to use a long cord.

Ahhh Spencer, the thing I love about you gals is you are resourceful. If you get too much stuff, maybe one of you can ride on a potty -- just don't sit on the food.
Are the movie posters for Hookie or the blokes?
I, for one, believe Spencer should have her own reality show.
    That would be unreal!
Hookie would have to be in it, as the Mcgyver character.
    Moggie, like Charlie's Angels??

Spencer, I actually live in the San Fernando Valley about 50 minutes from the City of LA. Don't visit LA that often. But traffic everywhere in this area is horrible. Yesterday, a big 94 year old water main broke (UCLA campus) from conservation of water usage (drought). Pressure caused it to break. LA lost 20 million gallons of water. Cars were submersed in underground parking lot. No one was hurt! This might have been some of your travel problems. Hard to say where exactly you were.

LB...I read about that main water break yesterday. That was something else...

We have gale force winds today. Nearly blown off bike morning and afternoon. Lots of damage, not to us, thank goodness.

    chook, glad you are okay.

spencer, you warned us that there are always last minute things. Confess, I had no idea how many. Hope you and hookie are all settled into your rental and you two can catch your breath.

That must be one heck of a convoy! I hated the traffic on our last trip to LA. Don't get a lot of that in Kansas. LOL.

    BIG day tomorrow!!! Oh boy.
