Maryann, Now that I see your kitchen (which is beautiful by the way!), I can see either Ben Moore Healing Aloe or Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt looking lovely in both areas. I think I see just a hint of green in the backsplash, and that's what made me think of these two colors. You could experiment with several paint chips in this color range and see if this could work for you.

The rug is Amy Butler, and it is available at Shades Of Light. I'm not sure if they are only online (I'm Canadian, so we don't have them here), but with a little exploring you may be able to track down a flooring/carpet store that is carrying it. I would be leery of ordering a rug online, so hopefully you can find it and borrow it to see how it will look in your own space. Rugs can be kind of tricky that way - there are so many nuances to the colors that may or may not pick up on the colors in your home. I don't think it has too much cream for your furniture. It has some small hits of gold/caramel, which look similar to your sofa color, so I think it might work.

I did a couple of collages for you, adding in possible pillow choices, so you can get some sense of how the rug could work with your decor. In the second collage, I used another rug that I came across. It has a more subtle look, which may be easier to live with over the long term. In each collage I used a different paint color - although, now I can't remember which was Sea Salt and which was Healing Aloe lol! I also used different curtains for each one - the first was a teal/blue pair from overstock.com, and the second were the Emery linen drapes from Pottery Barn. Your own curtains could still work - I can't decide what shade of blue they are on my monitor!
