What are good ideas for a pretty notice board?

I have not tested it on the ceiling, just trim. My walls will be mostly neutral or light-colored, so simply white will probably create a better contrast, right? What about super white? Too stark?

I think it is worse if I have lots of notice. That really puts the pressure on for the place to be sparkling clean. If a neighbor/friend drops in for a glass of wine, then I don't even worry about the state of things as I try to find the best bottle of wine and the least spotted wine glass in the cupboard... We live far enough away that most friends have to stay overnight if they visit. My BFF, two of her sisters and their Mom are coming overnight on Saturday for a girls night. They are traveling north of the city to chose a monument for her recently departed Father, so I suggested they continue the drive north to my place for some girl time. I've had a week's notice, so this week is deep cleaning all the guest rooms, making up the beds in my best linens, making sure the bathrooms sparkle. I still have to hand wash all the wine glasses, polish the hard water spots off the cutlery, tidy the kitchen & pantry, be thankful that DH is away this weekend, redo the guest bed in which he took a nap, fabric fresh spray the upholstery, sweep the deck, wipe down all the outdoor furniture, clean the BBQ, check for cobwebs, deep clean the range hood, clean out the fireplace and lay a fire, last minute shop for breakfast berries, bake an apple tart and... see, going out of my mind. But in the end, none if it will matter and they'll enjoy a much needed break. Hopefully they won't notice that I'm exhausted.

Until a few years ago I used to have a funhouse mirror in my entryway. The male guests and children usually loved it and would spend a few minutes clowning around in front of it. Most women would give it a pose or too as well. However, one rather prissy woman I know was mortified as she looked in it and scooted away as quickly as possible. I eventually sold it to a guy who said it would be a fantastic setup for a house of ill repute. Go figure...

Need help with best exterior paint for Hardie Board

Our painter uses SW exterior super paint and it holds up well. I have tried the ColorPlus Hardie board and would NEVER use it again. It shows everywhere a board is cut, it gets fingerprints on it during installation and the color will never match up to any vinyl/aluminum soffit or trim materials that may be used on the house. We ended up painting the more expensive ColorPlus siding that we bought because the color was off from surrounding colors enough that it was very noticeable. Maybe white would not be a problem.
