Placement of couch

I need to place a sofa in front of a window at my house. We are concerned about crunching up the curtains or having too much empty space behind the sofa. Can you advise how close this piece is to the wall? Maybe there's no magic number, just slide it back until it slightly touches the curtains? Seems like a small detail, but just curious. This room is lovely. Thanks.
