Wow, Gina. There is a lot to answer here as there was a tremendous amount of work to construct all of this. To be short: the columns for instance disguise some structural column I am pretty sure whereas the mahogany solid stock wood was attached to a plywood backer in a "zipper" style corner where the end grain exposed is staggered from side to side. The built-in media center was done the same way.
