Need advice on how to best clean hardwood floors.

We have engineered oak hardwood floors with a dark stain. Does anyone have any advice as to the best vacuum cleaner/cleaning method? We have white cabinetry and trim and my husband is always concerned with marking up the wood work with the vacuum cleaner.

I use the Bona system on my dark hardwoods.

If I may ask, what type of vacuum cleaner do you use? I'm wondering about canister vs upright...

Microfibre "dry" mops and "wet mop" heads are some of the best options. Vacuums must have beater bar turned OFF (the thing that rotates quickly with all the brushes attached) and the "hardwood" elevation used (if you have the option).

NO Murphy's Oil, no oil soaps of any kind. The thing you are looking for will state: "pH neutral hardwood floor cleaner"...not to be confused with polish.
