Is the wood paneling a specialty product? or just cut pieces of lumber that are stained?

Just a note: just because "any wood" can be milled into paneling. There are some that are far superior to hold up in exterior applications such as cedar and redwood. These woods are typically what you find for exterior exposed applications. They are durable and have toxins that bugs don't like which helps with decay.

This is a very standard cedar tongue and groove siding with a clear sealer that we used to identify the "wet" area of the open bathroom (tub and shower). As the previous comments explained, the cedar has natural rot resistant qualities that work well in a wet environment.

This is beautiful! We also think this would look great finished in Sikkens ProLuxe Cetol BL. It provides a nice satin finish!
