Hubbie won't give up oversize chair

We are downsizing into a wonderful town house but hubbie won't give up his oversized armchair which is creating a problem in my small living room/dining room space. He wants his chair and an entertainment center along the right wall. I can't figure out a layout that will work with that chair! Been playing with layouts but can't make it work. Don't really want to throw out hubbie to get rid of the chair any suggestions? Lol

If your husband is like mine, he might be attached to that chair because it fits him well. We've shopped for a new recliner for my husband as his is over 40 years old, and was given to his family by a friend when he was in high school, but nothing else fits him the way he expects it to. And he's not about to give another chair a chance so there's nothing I can do about it. A good marriage is worth more than a stylish house.

It's his house too ...

How about a wall-hung TV over a shallow console table that holds the rest of the hardware to take up less space.

Instead of the sectional, use club chairs and a small sofa

I'd snug the sectional to the fireplace where the chair is. The sofa table could be a sideboard to serve the dining area or be an entry table on the other side. Then angle the chair by the window and put the entertainment center on the wall. Then you can catch the news while grabbing breakfast or enjoy the fire and tv.

I would rotate the sectional 90 degrees clockwise, making it a divider between the dining space. Put the sofa table behind it by the dining room. Looks like your tv is covering up part of the window, so i would move the TV and stand to the right wall, and put the big chair next to the fireplace where the TV is now. If he doesn't want to move the TV, after rotating the sectional just put the big chair on the right wall angled toward it.

If I drop the sectional I may get closer to also adding the entertainment center he would like. How's this looking? RocketcT going to try switching the sofa and chair see hiw that fits.

I like your latest rendition with out the sectional. Can you try swapping the couch and the big chair? What is the dark object under the window? It seems to crowd the entertainment center a little?

Is this TH already built or can you have input? I see a lot of issues I'd want to deal with before getting around to furniture placement. There's a lot of wasted space by the closet and stairs. You're going to hate that sink placement with no counter to the left, and I'd hate having to haul my veggies from the fridge to the sink for prep. Can you switch the stove and sink locations?
