That is somewhat awkward. Try taking out everything on the floor and counters. Pointing out the obvious with a runner might elongate the area and make it look intentional. The kitchen itself is really nice, there's just a lot of objects and papers and those thing tend to be distracting. Add back only what you absolutely need.

Build a wall next to the pantry that extends to the front of the cabinets. Then place a chest and art or other accoutrement that command attention when one first walks in the door.

build a wall and install a door with a frosted glass single pane. You could also replace the fake victorian door with a similar one. Put down a more interesting floor, maybe dark wood.

I would float a shelf to the right of the front door as we view it. remove everything on the other side of the floor but what is on the wall as the door opens in that direction. use your little book case and put it like in the photo above and remove all the items on top of the cabinets. if you want it to look professional on top of the cabinets do grouping of like colors of items. I love your colorful rug! do a grouping of that fun yellow and go get some fun inexpensive items from homegoods in the other colors like the teal and red. use that footed silver bowl for what is ever in that basket it looks dated. it will complement the stainless stove. also put that plant in a new bright container and everything will feel fresh and fun

You have an attractive kitchen with very nice light cabinets cabinets with dark knobs. One way to have delineation between the two rooms and still coordinate the colors is with a dark cabinet that has doors that is more substantial replacing the open selves that look like it belongs in a child's bedroom or dorm room.

This would eliminate seeing clutter from the entryway. The dark color of the cabinet would delineate the hallway from the light wood in the kitchen and coordinate with the whole.

A simple canvas print without framing would add a splash of color. Not knowing your taste I have included some prints from my gallery just for fun. Should you see a print that you like contact me for deep discounts on canvas prints.
