I have owned leather for 30 yrs, and would never go back to fabric. buy the best leather you can afford, no stuff from China but good Italian aniline dyed and not the real butter soft stuff even though it is tempting it does not stand up to day to day use. Make sure your pieces are leather everywhere not just where your body touches and get a color you can live with for a long time, I personally like white, black or dark gray as opposed to browns but I also have very modern taste. Sectionals are not my favorite because they are very site specific and when you move they don't always work. I would suggest a sofa and 2 chairs for maximum flexibility.

Aniline dyed is usually top of the line. Reason is that other leathers are often surface dyed and waxed and the wax wears off leaving discoloration and also makes the furniture kind of uncomfortable when bare skin touches it. Avoid bicast like the plague. Do some research before investing and buy the quality you're comfortable with. Also, look for eight way hand tied springs as these can be repaired if they come loose. Sinous springs won't last and I'm told can't be repaired. Having said all that, I puchased a moderate grade of top grain leather and it's lasted eight years, but it has discolored somewhat and I'm looking to replace in the near future.

Actually as far as support goes if you go with webbing instead of springs it will last for a very long time with the comfort never really changing, remember a spring starts to wear out the first time you use it. Most of the webbing support sofas are from Italy, Germany and Denmark.
